Priyanka Chopra’s New York restaurant SONA has made significant progress in just over a year and now, it has received Michelin recognition.
The actress turned entrepreneur in March 2021 when she announced she would be the co-owner of the Indian restaurant.
Previously, Priyanka said that the craving for great Indian food was the inspiration behind starting the restaurant.
In her announcement, Priyanka said:
“I’m thrilled to present to you SONA, a new restaurant in NYC that I poured my love for Indian food into.
“SONA is the very embodiment of timeless India and the flavours I grew up with.
“The kitchen is helmed by the incredible Chef Hari Nayak, a masterful talent, who has created the most delicious and innovative menu, taking you on a food journey through my amazing country.
“SONA is opening later this month, and I can’t wait to see you there!
“This endeavour would not have been possible without the leadership of my friends Maneesh Goyal and David Rabin.
“Thank you to our designer Melissa Bowers and the rest of the team for realising this vision so clearly.”
Helmed by Chef Hari Nayak, SONA has now been recognised by Michelin.
The Michelin Guide added more restaurants to its New York guide.
Priyanka’s restaurant and 29 others made it to the list and are competing for awards.
The awards will be held at Hudson Yards fine dining restaurant Peak on October 6, 2022.
Priyanka Chopra announced the news on her Instagram Story. She shared the original article and wrote:
“Bravo, SONA! We’re starting the week strong with Michelin’s recognition.”
Priyanka Chopra also revealed that one of the standout menu items is the Masala-Stuffed Chicken Wings.
She shared a review which stated that the dish is a must-order.
The review said that the wings look to have been inspired by a dish in Vietnamese restaurants.
The chicken wings have a breadcrumb and mild masala stuffing. They are served with a dip made from Meyer lemons.
The review also said that SONA’s Tamarind BBQ Lamb Chops deserved a special mention.
Since opening, SONA has been popular among celebrities.
This includes the likes of Sophie Turner, Kal Penn, Mindy Kaling, Anupam Kher, Farhan Akhtar, Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal.
Now it has received Michelin recognition, SONA’s popularity will only increase further.
