Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took their vows at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle watched by millions across the globe. Witnessing and attending the wedding was Bollywood star, Priyanka Chopra.
Priyanka Chopra is a close friend of Meghan Markle and was invited along with an entourage of other notable American celebrity guests as well.
Priyanka said:
“I’ve known Meghan for a few years now and I’m super happy for her, and I’m just really happy to be a part of her big day, ya know?”
Priyanka woke-up to a lovely day of sunshine in Ascot in the UK and posted her image on Instagram. Saying: “Welcomed by the UK sun… #nomakeupnofilter”.
Priyanka’s makeup look for the wedding was inspired “was ‘Purple Reign’ and spring flowers in vibrant pinks and purples,” said Hollywood make-up artist Pati Dubroff.
Dubroff created the look for Priyanka using pop-artist Prince and Rihanna for her mood board. She spent time on Priyanka’s skin to make it look radiant and shine-free for photography before she applied the bold colours.
The bold makeup matched her outfit beautifully. The netting on her Philip Treacy wedding hat showed off the colours in a very nice and sophisticated way in the bright sunshine.
Chopra’s outfit was designed by Vivienne Westwood, hand-crafted in a light heather summer tweed, with a soft pearlescent sheen and an overall lavender/lilac finish.
Priyanka Chopra was seen arriving at the castle grounds, in her gorgeous and elegant tight-fitting outfit with her lovely stylish wedding hat, accompanied by Abigail Spencer and followed by other guests.
Priyanka walked very confidently with her fellow guests who were also wonderfully dressed for this very special occasion in an array of colours and outfits.
Once inside the chapel, Priyanka met and greeted people, including US Tennis star, Serena Williams.
Many other celebrity guests attending the auspicious wedding included George Clooney and his wife Amala, David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John, Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian, Idris Elba and fiancé Sabrina Dhowre, Gina Torres, Joss Stone, Charlotte Riley and Tom Hardy, Gabriel Macht (Suits co-star Harvey Spectre) and Jacinda Barrett, and many more.
Meghan Markle arrived in a gorgeous wedding dress designed by British Designer Clare Waight Keller, who became the first female artistic director of Givenchy in 2017.
The neckline cut of the dress followed an off-the-shoulder horizontal cut. The front shaping starting from the bust point going all the way down to the seams of the skirt of the dress.
The tulip skirt shape allowed the dress not to be too hugging on the hips but tapered narrower midway between her hips and knees, after which it flared out gorgeously.
The back of the dress had very beautiful seamlines to make the fitting perfect with a lovely long tail.
The fairytale wedding of Meghan Markle made history in many ways.
Firstly, to see Prince Harry marry an American actress of black heritage bringing her into the Royal family, and then to see an incredible modern and diverse ceremony held in the chapel with a gospel choir, sermons by chaplains and an inspiring and uplifting American preacher Michael Curry, who talked openly about “love” to the couple and guests at the wedding.
The atmosphere around Windsor castle was jubilant and full of joy for the Royal couple with union jack flags fluttering in the hands of onlookers and fans as they travelled in their carriage through the streets of Windsor.
The title for the couple bestowed on them by the Queen is the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
After the ceremony, Priyanka Chopra posted a heartfelt message to the Royal couple on her Instagram saying:
In the afternoon, its said that Sir Elton John provided some entertainment before the reception playing moving medley of four hits – Your Song, Tiny Dancer, Circle Of Life and I’m Still Standing, after a smiling Prince Harry said: “Can anyone play the piano?”
Priyanka Chopra joined the other guests for the wedding reception at Frogmore House in Windsor which was hosted by Prince Charles.
She wore a lovely off-the-one-shoulder dress with sequences and sparkling finish to the party.
Sources say the music for the evening was provided by DJ Sam Totolee and wedding guest and actor Idris Elba even took the decks for a spin, for a DJ stint.
Pizzas were seen being delivered to Windsor castle in the evening as the party warmed up. The menu for the reception party included ‘dirty burgers’, candyfloss, a ‘drinks of the world’ themed bar and a cocktail made from rum and ginger, which was aimed at Harry’s hair colour and called ‘When Harry Met Meghan’.
The first dance of the Royal couple was said to have been to Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
Prince William also is said to have made a naughty’ speech being the best man at the reception.
Breaking royal tradition from previous Royal weddings Meghan gave a speech herself at the reception with a thank you to the Royals for welcoming her to the family.
The evening dinner started at about 7.30pm and went on until about 10.00pm. It was a grand sit-down affair which was organically sourced, as requested and funded by the Prince of Wales.
The Frogmore House evening concluded with a fireworks display outside the 17th-century historic venue.
It’s also said that many of the guests attended an ‘after-after party’ at Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone, London.
All in all, making the special day for Harry and Meghan as enjoyable as it could be for family, relatives and guests, including Bollywood’s Priyanka Chopra.
