Mushtaq Ahmed has threatened legal action against Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis following their criticism of his coaching.

Pakistani cricket is in the spotlight once again, this time due to the national team’s disappointing performance in recent ICC events.

Following their struggles, senior players have criticised former cricket stars associated with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Notably, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis have openly questioned Mushtaq Ahmed’s coaching abilities.

In response to their remarks, Mushtaq Ahmed expressed his dissatisfaction during an appearance on a show hosted by Fakhr-e-Alam.

He firmly stated that while questioning his coaching is within their rights, he intends to take legal action against both Akram and Younis.

Ahmed said: “This is the digital media era.”

He announced plans to file a defamation suit, seeking 15 crores against Wasim Akram and 20 crores against Waqar Younis.

He also recalled past experiences, stating: “I have bitter memories of Wasim and Waqar trying to shatter my confidence, which falls under harassment.”

His comments highlight a deeper issue within the cricket community, where personal attacks have become increasingly common.

Wasim Akram responded to Ahmed’s statements with a mix of humour and seriousness.

He acknowledged Ahmed’s feelings but reiterated his belief that Ahmed was not the right choice for the night watchman position during their playing days.

Akram quipped: “I still believe you scored a zero every time I sent you.”

He ended his statement with a reminder that they would meet again in court.

Waqar Younis took a different approach, offering an apology for his earlier comments.

He mentioned: “I don’t have 20 crores to pay as a fine.”

Younis also expressed regret that Ahmed was hurt by his words.

He suggested that if Ahmed doesn’t forgive them, they may need to find another way to resolve the conflict.

Fans have reacted with mixed feelings to the unfolding drama.

Many support Mushtaq Ahmed, while others side with Akram and Younis.

A significant portion of the audience believes that all former players are part of a corrupt system that undermines Pakistani cricket.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani cricket team is preparing for its last Champions Trophy 2025 match against Bangladesh.

The focus remains on their quest for a consolation win.

After defeats to India and New Zealand, the pressure is on to end the tournament on a positive note.
