"I’m very excited to be opening my new concept in Birmingham."

Brand new restaurant, entitled NRI by Atul Kochhar, will launch later in 2017. The restaurant, set to open in Birmingham’s stylish shopping centre, the Mailbox, will serve high-quality, affordable dishes.

The twice-awarded Michelin star chef/owner of the upcoming restaurant, Atul Kochhar, aims to create dishes, using a fusion of both Indian and British ingredients.

They will also draw inspiration from his travels, particularly from locations formerly part of the British Empire. NRI by Atul Kochhar will create dishes inspired by locations such as Malaysia and South Africa.

The restaurant will have dishes cooked fresh on-site. Its menu will offer a variety of hot and cold small plates, grilled dishes, sides and desserts. However, its star dishes feature many that migrants have brought over to the British Empire.

But, visitors won’t just appear impressed with NRI by Atul Kohhar’s food. The restaurant will feature its own bar, that serves a variety of lagers, craft ales, wines and Indian-inspired cocktails.

Atul Kochhar has also taken influences of colonial India for the decor. Guests can expect a rustic feel as the restaurant will have high ceilings, hanging ceilings and walls seemingly made of dark stone.

The restaurant will also contain an exclusive dining room called The Chef’s Table by Benares. The room is a 24 cover intimate, with a stylish space, which will provide exclusive viewing of a private kitchen.

This area will be where Atul and his team will work and serve food.

Speaking about the restaurant’s upcoming launch, Atul Kochhar says:

“I’m very excited to be opening my new concept in Birmingham, a city which I have long admired for its diversity and food culture.”

“There is a complex plethora of Indian cuisine that has developed outside of India and each of my dishes tells a beautiful story – stories that I am keen to share with Birmingham.”

“The Mailbox is a modern, sophisticated development in the heart of Birmingham, and one that boasts premium quality space, occupiers and customer base. It’s the perfect location for my new restaurant and we can’t wait to open later this year.”

Kochhar also has a number of famous restaurants, including Benares (in both London and Madrid), Indian Essence and Hawkyns.

As these restaurants offer delicious mouth-watering cuisines, many can expect the same with NRI by Atul Kochhar.
