“I am warning Sunny Leone Ji, Shaarib and Toshi Ji to understand."

Following Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra’s warning to Sunny Leone for her song ’Madhuban’, Saregama has said that the company will change the lyrics.

In the music video, the actress poses for the camera and dances in various, bold outfits.

Originally sung by Mohammed Rafi for the 1960 film Kohinoor, many have bashed the song for being ‘offensive’ from a faith perspective.

Several social media users also said that the title ‘Madhuban’ mocks the sacred place of Assam.

The music label issued a brief statement which read:

“In light of the recent feedback & respecting the sentiments of our fellow countrymen, we will be changing the lyrics and the name of the song Madhuban.

“The new song will replace the old one across all platforms over the next 3 days.”

Narottam Mishra warned Sunny Leone to apologise and withdraw the video within three days. Failing to do this would attract action, the minister said.

Soon after the warning, the company responded and said the music video will be changed.

Without referring to the minister’s threat, the company said the decision is prompted by recent feedback.

The minister had specifically mentioned:

“I am warning Sunny Leone Ji, Shaarib and Toshi Ji to understand.

“If they don’t remove the song after apologising in three days, then we will take action against them.”

The song is composed and sung by Shaarib and Toshi, featuring Kanika Kapoor and Arindam Chakraborty.

After noticing the initial backlash, the ‘Madhuban’ producers turned the comment section of the music video on YouTube off.

Before Narottam Mishra, Mathura-based priests said they found the music video objectionable and will go to court if no action is taken against the video.

Meanwhile, Sunny Leone took to Instagram to share a teaser of her upcoming song ‘Machhli’.

Sung by Pawni Pandey and Shahid Mallya, the song will be released on December 27, 2021.

The actress, who was a contestant in Bigg Boss 5 (2021), recently revealed if she would return to the reality TV show. Sunny said:

“I think the time has changed and that time is definitely over for me because of the obligations outside the house.

“So, I wouldn’t want to go back; not because it wasn’t an interesting experience or a life-changing experience, it’s only because I don’t think I can be away from my kids for that long.

“For that, one needs to be an extremely strong person, and I am not that strong emotionally.”

In the case of ‘Madhuban’, it seems common sense has finally prevailed. The song was causing unnecessary controversy for Sunny Leone and the makers of it.
