“Shakira, so why you kissing him and leading him on?”
Love Island viewers have criticised Shakira Khan for “leading Ben on” after she appeared to give away her true feelings during a chat with new bombshell Harrison Solomon.
Harrison had picked Toni to stay in the villa, sending Malisha home.
Since his arrival, the footballer has been getting to know several Islanders, including Shakira, who is currently coupled up with Ben.
Chatting by the firepit, Shakira suggested that her conversations with Ben weren’t mentally stimulating enough for her.
Speaking to Harrison, she said: “I don’t think he’s someone I’d go for on the outside world.
“When I speak to him, we get on well. But on a deeper level, I’m not sure.”
When Harrison asked if she and Ben ever have “deeper chats”, Shakira replied:
“No, well we’ve had a few. I like conversations that stimulate me and I’m quite a smart girl, do you know what I mean?”
She also described Ben as having a neon sign above his head that says “trouble”.
Viewers appeared to turn on the once-fan favourite, claiming Shakira is “leading Ben on”.
One wrote on X: Shakira hates Ben so bad.”
Another wrote: “Shakira is definitely leading Ben on.”
A third added: “Shakira, so why you kissing him and leading him on?”
Several fans claimed Shakira was insulting Ben’s intelligence, as one said:
“Shakira basically called Ben dumb.”
Another wrote: “No way Shakira just called Ben thick by saying her conversations with Ben aren’t stimulating to her brain… please.”
The comments came as Maya Jama returned to host Aftersun. She sat down with Shakira’s mum and sister to discuss her time on the show, and both women had mixed views on Ben.
Asked by Maya if she approved of Harry, who had been spotted leaving the Hideaway after spending the night with Helena, Shakira’s mum was blunt.
She said: “Absolutely not. I didn’t sleep. I, actually, when she ended up back with Ben, that was the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a few days. I prefer him.”
However, her sister seemed less sure about Ben:
“I’m not a fan, but I feel like they do match each other’s break a bit.”
“I feel like she likes the chase, and because he was, like, so weird with her at the beginning, she kind of liked it and it roped her in a bit.”
Shakira’s mother was warmer towards Ben:
“There must be potential there for it to be that interesting.”
With emotions running high and loyalties being tested, the fallout from Shakira’s comments could have lasting consequences, especially as the Islanders prepare for the next recoupling.
