"why such basic clothes are sold at such high price points."

Nupur Sanon, sister of Kriti Sanon, is facing online criticism for the pricing of clothes sold under her fashion label NOBO.

NOBO stands for NO BOundaries and was co-founded by her mother Geeta.

The brand claims to offer a mix of traditional and Western wear.

But NOBO has hit headlines for the wrong reasons, as many social media users argue the clothing is overpriced for what they describe as basic designs.

The controversy began when a Reddit user shared screenshots from the NOBO website and questioned the brand’s pricing strategy.

The post read: “The ridiculous price points of Nupur Sanon’s clothing line called NOBO.

“Doesn’t explain why such basic clothes are sold at such high price points. Is it money laundering of some sort (scamming buyers)?”

Images included dresses, co-ords and jumpsuits costing up to Rs. 13,000 (£111).

The Reddit user wondered what justified the prices, especially because the designs were “so basic”, accusing Nupur and her brand of “scamming people”.

The criticism gained momentum online.

One user commented: “I think her brand name is incomplete cause she clearly forgot to write NOBOdy is buying this overpriced fast fashion s**t from me.”

Another said they have found better designs for cheaper at local markets:

“I have been to Jaipur and Jodhpur the past year and honestly, have found better patchwork jackets from local markets for less than 1500.”

Some questioned the brand’s marketing, with one user saying:

“They didn’t even bother to take professional pictures with models — just randomly used any shot of someone walking out of the airport, paparazzi-style pictures, and put them on the website to sell at exorbitant prices.

“You have to be on another level of delusional to do that. Good job, Nupur.”

The post sparked a wider conversation about celebrity-linked fashion brands and consumer trust, as one person said:

“Anything which has a celebrity tag, just run away from them.

“In the US, I used to buy from Rare Beauty, which is Selena Gomez’s make-up brand, but L’Oréal or Elf gave me the same result and are 50% cheaper.”

Some even claimed Nupur is leveraging her sister’s fame to market NOBO, which Kriti has worn publicly on several occasions.
