"I love you but these are ridiculously overpriced."

Mahira Khan has come under fire for her clothing line, with many people criticising the high prices.

With her outstanding acting skills in the drama serial Humsafar, Mahira Khan rose to prominence in the Pakistani entertainment industry.

Mahira Khan went on to make her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees and then became part of Pakistan’s highest-grossing film The Legend of Maula Jatt.

With her connections, fame, and wealth, the actress has now launched her clothing line, which may prove to be a success.

However, the brand, named ‘M by Mahira’, has drawn criticism from social media users for being overpriced, especially during a period of rising inflation in Pakistan.

The fact that items such as the white mardana and embroidered kurtas, silk tunic sets, and co-ord sets were far too plain, boring and simple has also irritated a lot of individuals.

Despite Twitter users liking the actress, few were prepared to buy the items.

Ironically, the actress’ business saw several items already being sold out despite the criticism of her costly collection failing to thrill her millions of followers.

One Twitter user was amazed at the price points of the clothing and said:

“A plain white linen kurta for Rs 13,000?! And it’s already sold out? Why? How? Who?”

Another user wrote: “I love you but these are ridiculously overpriced.”

The user went on to say: “You could get the same kurta from the bazaar for Rs 2,000.”

Some fans began to draw comparisons between Mahira Khan’s collection and designer Zara Shahjahan, with one suggesting:

“Zara Shahjahan’s kurtas seem better and cheaper.”

The matter also led to trolling, with one person sarcastically commenting:

“Mahira Khan is affected by inflation the most.”

“She is selling her father’s kurtas to survive. Please like, share and subscribe to help poor Mahira to get through these tough economic times.”

Fans also made light of the situation and jokingly responded to the price tags. One user wrote:

“Mahira will come along the dress.”

While Mahira’s expensive clothing was widely mocked, some people, much to the surprise of others, have defended the prices.

In response to obtaining Mahira Khan’s new collection for free, one user commented on how Instagram influencers are promoting it because they have been paid.

The user said: “Influencers getting things in #PR for free then encouraging their audiences to buy Mahira Khan’s plain white kurta for Rs 34,000 in this economy, is peak hypocrisy!

“Would love to see people promoting things they spend their own money on, for once.”
