Shehnaaz Gill has come under fire for supporting Sajid Khan after the filmmaker officially entered the Bigg Boss 16 house.
Sajid Khan has been a controversial figure in Bollywood as several women accused him of sexual harassment.
At the Bigg Boss 16 premiere, Sajid spoke to Salman Khan about being out of work for the past four years.
However, neither of them addressed the sexual harassment allegations.
Speaking about himself being dismissed from Housefull 4, Sajid said:
“Till the night (when he was accused of harassment) I was working on the film and in the morning I was out of the film. My credit on the film was taken away from me.
“I did not have much work, have been at home for past four years. So, when the Colors team called me up, I decided I should come here and maybe learn something about myself.”
Speaking about having no work, Sajid continued:
“I have seen many ups and downs in my life and been very low in past four years.”
According to the filmmaker, he claimed “success” was responsible.
“It is said that failure destroys people. But in my case, my success destroyed me.
“I became very arrogant with three back-to-back teen hits. So, I thought I had become infallible, I can never make a wrong film.”
Later on in the show, a video message from Shehnaaz Gill was played.
Expressing her support for Sajid, Shehnaaz said:
“Hi Sajid bhai, you are going inside the Bigg Boss house and I am very happy for you.
“The way you have always made the audience laugh on television and through your scripts, just go all out in the reality show also.
“Just spread smiles and please do not fight with anyone. Just entertain everyone and be real. My support is with you, rock it brother.”
However, her support for the filmmaker did not go down well with her fans on social media.
One user wrote:
“I love Shehnaaz GiIl but I hate her for supporting me too culprit Sajid Khan.”
“People like Sajid should be behind bars. Here in Bollywood, he is doing a show and next directing a movie… Shame.”
Another wrote: “The lowest point of today’s premiere was Shehnaaz Gill coming out in full support of Sajid Khan. Extremely disappointing!”

Others were angry that Sajid Khan was a contestant on Bigg Boss 16.
One comment read: “Nine women had accused Sajid Khan of sexual abuse and he got support.
“Of course, he will be the next baby face of the channel and the winner with the support of Salman, Farah and Endemol.”
Another user said: “Can’t believe how Sajid Khan is being portrayed as a hero.
“His participation is understandable but at least not this way. And then getting Shehnaaz Gill to just get him some support.”
