It seems she did not give her written consent
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif was allegedly offended by a ‘dirty talk’ dialogue in which her name was used by Akshay Kumar’s character in Good Newwz (2020).
Akshay Kumar’s latest release Good Newwz has been earning praise and appreciation from both fans and critics alike.
The comedy film revolves around the concept of IVF (in-vitro fertilisation). Two couples with the same surname opt for IVF, however, trouble follows when the sperms are mixed up.
Good Newwz also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in lead roles. It was produced by Raj Mehta and produced under Dharma Productions.
In a particular scene in the film, Varun (Akshay) has to collect a sperm sample.
He asks his wife Deepti (Kareena) to talk dirty to him, but she tells him that she is interviewing her guest Katrina Kaif. Varun (Akshay) then tells her to put Katrina on the line.
Despite this scene being used to add comedic value to the film, it has offended Katrina Kaif.
According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, Katrina was made aware of her association to Akshay’s film. However, it seems she did not give her written consent for the same.
The report continued to mention that without legal consent there should be no reference to any living people who are public figures.
The former Chairman of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Pahlaj Nihalani said:
“I doubt the CBFC has received a letter from Katrina giving permission for her name to be used. It is therefore not allowed.”
On the work front, Katrina Kaif will feature in Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi (2020) alongside Akshay Kumar. This will be Shetty’s third police action film after Singham (2011) and Simmba (2018).
Katrina was also due to star in Remo D’Souza’s Street Dancer 3 (2020), however, had to pull out of the film.
Varun Dhawan explained why Katrina had to leave the film. He said:
“Shraddha was part of the previous film and was a bit emotional when she got to know that she is not there in the next one.
“She asked me why didn’t they offer me the film. Remo thought this role was not suitable for her.
“But after Katrina left the film because of her date issue, it was nice of her to step in and agree to this role. I think she was destined to do this film.”
As of yet, Katrina Kaif has not commented on the matter. We wait to see what she has to say and whether she will be considering legal action.
