"Is it ok to sexualise her at this age?"

Kangana Ranaut has slammed a video where a child was seen imitating Alia Bhatt’s dialogues from Gangubai Kathiawadi.

The actress expressed her displeasure as the young social media influencer Kiara Khanna recreated a scene from the upcoming Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.

Kangana shared two posts on her Instagram Story on February 14, 2022, slamming the way Kiara is mouthing Alia’s dialogues.

Alia plays a sex worker in the film who goes on to become an influential madam of the Kamathipura red light area.

The film is loosely based on the life of a real sex worker mentioned in the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai by S. Hussain Zaidi.

Kangana Ranaut wrote: “Should this child imitate a sex worker with a beedi in her mouth and crude and obscene dialogues?

“Look at her body language, is it ok to sexualise her at this age?

“There are hundreds of other children who are being used similarly.”

The viral video has since been removed from the photo-sharing app.

Earlier, Kangana had written a cryptic post, taking a dig at Deepika Padukone’s Gehraiyaan, directed by Shakun Batra.

Calling the film “trash”, Kangana wrote:

“I am also a millennial but I identify and understand this kind of romance in the name of millennial/new age/urban movies don’t sell trash pls.

“Bad movies are bad movies no amount of skin show or pornography can save it.”

Gangubai Kathiawadi features Alia Bhatt in the title role of Gangubai, one of the most powerful madams from Mumbai’s red-light area Kamathipura during the 1960s.

Earlier, the casting choice of Alia Bhatt for the role of Gangubai Kathiawadi had also become a subject of criticism on social media.

When the first look of the film was released, several social media users also felt that Alia was too young to play the role.

The actress disputed that opinion and said:

“Firstly, she’s not old. She is 30 so take one picture we got of her, in black and white, she’s old.

“So, there’s a feeling that ‘Oh she’s Gangubai and Alia’s wrong.’

“Obviously, in that context, I am wrong. But it’s not character.

“Gangubai became powerful very young in her life. That was one of the facts that at a very young age, she became a caretaker of a brothel.

“Things in her life happened very fast, at a very young age.”

“We had to show a transition from the age of 16-17 to the age she’s shown in the film, which is 31-32.”

Backed by Bhansali Productions, co-produced by Jayantilal Gada’s Pen India Limited, the film also stars Ajay Devgn, Seema Pahwa, Vijay Raaz, and Jim Sarbh.

Gangubai Kathiawadi will have its world premiere at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival in February 2022.
