“People often get confused by this story"

Pakistani actress Javeria Abbasi revealed that her ex-husband Shamoon Abbasi turned out to be her step-brother.

She appeared on Nida Yasir’s show Good Morning Pakistan.

During the show, the conversation took a turn when Nida pointed out that Javeria’s ex-husband, Shamoon Abbasi, is also her step-brother.

While talking about Javeria’s struggle and her life in the entertainment industry, Nida revealed that her production house once made a TV show based on Javeria’s life.

The show was Hum Tum and it starred Atiqa Odho, Sajid Hassan, Aamina Sheikh and Mohib Mirza.

On the talk show, Nida said: “Javeria’s mother and Shamoon’s father married each other.”

Javeria added: “People often get confused by this story, so I don’t want to create any confusion.”

She explained that they share a different set of parents, but the rest of their siblings share the same parents.

Javeria continued: “People get really confused whether Anoushey Abbasi is my sister or Shamoon’s. She’s actually a sister to both of us.”

Javeria went on to explain how she decided to marry Shamoon in the first place, revealing that she was the first man in her life.

She was 17 and Shamoon was 22 when they got married in 1997.

“He was the first man so I thought I’d just hold onto him.

“We had a scattered family, and so the idea was to bring the whole family together.”

“I will get a father, and he will get a mother.

“We could all live together and share a house and a family, so it was a good idea and it worked.”

Prior to her marriage, Javeria Abbasi relocated to her maternal uncle’s house to get a proper rukhsati (sending off) ceremony since she was going to live in the same house after marriage.

When asked if having her biological mother as her mother-in-law made her married life easier, Javeria said:

“Oh no, I had it worst!

“My mother was on a mission to prove how her daughter was the best.

“Apart from working 12 hours a day, I would do rest of the chores as well.”

Javeria and Shamoon divorced in 2009. They share a daughter, Anzela Abbasi.

Javeria Abbasi has appeared in numerous TV shows such as Dil, Diya, Dehleez and Thori Si Khushiyan.

In 2011, she made her film debut in the Pakistani film Saltanat.
