Indian actor Ishaan Khatter is learning Tamil for his role in the upcoming horror-comedy film Phone Bhoot.
The 25-year-old Bollywood actor is currently taking Tamil lessons in order to get under the skin of his new character.
Phone Bhoot is Khatter’s first horror-comedy film ever, and the star promises to be both hilarious and entertaining.
The film is highly anticipated and is due for release sometime in 2021. It is being directed by Gurmmeet Singh and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
Filming for Phone Bhoot began in January 2021.
To pick up the right accent as well as the new language, Khatter is taking two to three hours every day to prepare for his new character.
Confirming the news in a statement, Khatter said:
“I’ve been taking diction lessons and it’s really exciting for me to learn a new language. I’m enjoying the process and want to give it my best shot.”
Ishaan Khatter will appear in the new horror-comedy alongside Katrina Kaif and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
This is the first time that the three actors have worked together on a production.
Phone Bhoot was announced in July 2020, and the plot will revolve around Khatter, Kaif, and Chaturvedi catching ghosts.
Showing his dedication to preparing for his new role, Khatter posted a photo of the Phone Bhoot script to his Instagram account.
The photo was posted to his 1.4 million followers on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Ishaan Khatter has already made noteworthy appearances in Majid Majidi’s Beyond the Clouds, Maqbool Khan’s Khaali Peeli, and Mira Nair’s A Suitable Boy.
Phone Bhoot, written by Ravin Shankaran and Jasvinder Singh Bath, is not the only film Ishaan Khatter is working on in 2021.
When filming for Phone Bhoot is complete, the actor will start shooting for Raja Krishna Menon’s upcoming war film Pippa.
Pippa is based on the life of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli.
Ishaan Khatter made his Bollywood debut as a child in the 2005 film Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!.
He made his first on-screen appearance alongside his half-brother, Shahid Kapoor, who also starred in the film.
Despite being only 25 years old, Khattar has already won multiple awards for his talent on the big screen.
For his roles in 2018 films Dhadak and Beyond the Clouds, Khatter took home the Screen Award for Best Male Debut in 2018, and the Zee Cine Award for Best Male Debut in 2019.
The actor also scooped up the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for Beyond the Clouds in 2019, as well as IIFA’s Star Debut of the Year – Male for Dhadak.
