Bishnoi has an extensive criminal record, with over two dozen cases registered against him, including murder and extortion.

The Bishnoi gang is said to have over 700 members, both in India and abroad.

Between 2010 and 2012, several FIRs were filed for offences including attempted murder, trespassing, assault and robbery were registered against him in Chandigarh.

Out of the seven FIRs, Bishnoi was acquitted in four cases. The other three remain under trial.

Since 2012, Lawrence Bishnoi has spent most of his time in prison but he continues to pull strings.

He has reportedly used his time in prison to form alliances with other criminals and grow his network.

During the periods out of prison, Bishnoi has reportedly connected with arms dealers and local criminals.

In 2013, Bishnoi allegedly murdered the winning candidate of the Government College elections in Muktsar, as well as a rival candidate in the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation elections.

In 2014, Bishnoi was involved in an armed confrontation with Rajasthan Police, leading to his arrest.

According to reports, Bishnoi formed a connection with gangster-turned-politician Jaswinder ‘Rocky’ Singh.

Rocky was later killed by gangster Jaipal Bhullar in 2016.

He was transferred to Delhi’s Tihar Jail in 2021 due to a case filed against him under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

In prison, Bishnoi has remained in contact with associates via VoIP calls.

Lawrence Bishnoi’s name was in the headlines in October 2024 when Baba Siddique was shot dead by three assailants.

Two of the gunmen were arrested and the Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility.

Other high-profile murders Bishnoi has been linked to include:

  • The killing of gangster Sukhdool Singh in Canada.

In June 2024, four alleged associates were arrested while planning an attack on Salman’s car.

The Bishnoi gang has also threatened those who are supposedly close with the Bollywood star.

The threats stem from the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, where Salman was accused of hunting and killing two blackbucks in Rajasthan.

Lawrence Bishnoi belongs to the Hindu Bishnoi community, which considers the blackbuck a sacred animal.

The Bishnoi community was upset by Salman’s alleged actions.

Bishnoi, who was five years old at the time of the allegations, has apparently made it his mission to target Salman as revenge on behalf of his community.

The rise of Lawrence Bishnoi as India’s most feared gangster highlights the complex nature of organised crime in the country.
