A police case has been registered against an Indian woman after she crushed a 33-year-old man to death with a tractor.
The shocking incident happened on Friday, May 8, 2020, near Patadan in Patiala, Punjab.
It was reported that the woman killed Harvinder Singh over a land dispute. She enlisted the help of six others.
Harvinder was rushed to hospital, however, he died on the way there.
Kuldeep Kaur, the victim’s mother, told police that her son had been in a land dispute with Paramjeet Kaur. Although the land belonged to her, Harvinder was allowed to stay on the land after the court granted it.
This angered Kaur, who confronted Harvinder on May 8.
She went with her accomplices Bhola Singh, Kanwalpreet Singh and several others with the intention of reoccupying her land.
Kaur tried to force Harvinder into leaving by getting onto a tractor. At that point, Harvinder called the police.
When the police turned up, the Indian woman tried to flee on the tractor. But when Harvinder tried to stop her, she ran him over, leaving him in a critical condition.
Kaur was soon arrested while Harvinder was rushed to hospital. However, he died on the way and doctors declared him dead.
Sangrur Police Station in-charge Sukhdeep Singh said that a case of murder was registered against Kaur and six others.
He confirmed that Kaur was arrested while efforts are being made to arrest the accomplices.
Police have taken the tractor used in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
In another case of murder stemming from a property dispute, a man killed his father over a house.
Sonu Kumar enlisted the help of his cousin Rahul Kumar to kill his father.
The attack took place during December 2018 in the Hasangarh village of Barwala town when Kumar and his father Satbir Singh, aged 60, argued about a house and who should own it.
It was heard Kumar had regularly demanded his father to transfer the ancestral home into his name but refused to do so.
On December 17, 2018, Kumar enlisted the help of his cousin Rahul and they beat Mr Singh to death. Later, they buried him in the courtyard of his house.
The matter came to light when Mr Singh’s daughter Mukesh Rani lodged a missing person’s complaint. She said her father had gone missing on December 17, 2018.
Police officers registered a missing person’s report and a search began.
It was discovered that Mr Singh had lived in a ‘dhaba’ (roadside restaurant) in Kaller Bhaini village, Haryana following one argument with his son over the property.
Mrs Rani suspected her brother was behind her father’s disappearance as she was aware of his constant demands for the property.
On the basis of this suspicion, police bought in Kumar for questioning who confessed to murdering his father with the intention of obtaining the property and burying his body in the courtyard.
He also said he killed his father by beating him with sticks and he was helped by his cousin Rahul. Police searched the courtyard and found Mr Singh’s body on January 6, 2019.
