Wedding guests watched in horror after an Indian woman collapsed and died on stage while dancing.

Terrifying footage from the event in Madhya Pradesh went viral, sparking conversations about rising heart attacks among young people in India.

Twenty-three-year-old Parinita Jain travelled from Indore to Vidisha for her cousin’s wedding, which was attended by over 200 guests.

Footage shows Parinita in traditional attire, dancing to the popular Bollywood song ‘Sharara Sharara’.

Guests watched as things appeared normal.

But just seconds into the performance, Parinita collapsed as horrified guests looked on.

Family members and a few doctors at the wedding rushed to her aid and attempted CPR, but she failed to respond.

Parinita was then rushed to hospital, however, she was tragically pronounced dead.

According to doctors, she had suffered a cardiac arrest.

The video went viral and it sparked a conversation around the health of young Indians.

One said: “Many people don’t know their congenital diseases.”

Another commented: “If there’s a family history of sudden cardiac arrest, it’s advisable to get genetic testing and cardiac screening for early detection.

“Additionally, a full medical checkup and vitals assessment once a year is crucial.”

There are suggestions that heart problems run in Parinita’s family because according to reports, her younger brother died of a heart attack when he was just 12.

There has been several instances of young Indian people suffered heart attacks or cardiac arrests.

At two separate weddings, a bride and a guest suffered heart attacks.

On social media, many have claimed such incidents in India have become more common after the Covid-19 pandemic and questioned if they were linked to the vaccines.

However, doctors have dismissed such claims and said family history and lifestyle factors play a key role in cardiac health.

In 2024, the then-Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the Indian Council of Medical Research found in a study that Covid vaccines were not responsible for heart attacks.

He said: “If someone has a stroke today, some people think it is because of the Covid vaccine.

“ICMR has done a detailed study on this. (Covid) vaccine is not responsible for heart attacks.

“There are multiple reasons for heart attacks, like our lifestyle, tobacco and excess liquor consumption.

“Sometimes, misinformation goes among the people and a perception is formed for some time. But whatever decision we make, it should be data-based and scientific research-based.”
