A police case has been registered against an Indian teenager after he shot a 23-year-old man dead on Saturday, May 30, 2020.
The incident happened in the city of Hisar, Haryana.
The victim was identified as Narendra. According to his father, the victim was killed as he had eloped with the accused’s sister in 2018 and married her.
Narendra owned a workshop on Hansi Road in Hisar’s Barwala.
It was reported that the 18-year-old turned up at the victim’s workplace. He came with his cousin and two others on two motorbikes.
Narendra’s wife had been there when the shooting took place.
According to her statement, she said her brother had shot her husband and fled when locals began to gather.
Narendra was rushed to the hospital, however, he later died.
According to eyewitnesses, the Indian teenager and his accomplices arrived at the scene on two motorbikes but ended up leaving one there as it did not start when they tried to escape.
The victim’s father explained to police what had happened and identified the teenager as Sachin Kumar.
He said that Sachin “murdered” Narendra as he ran away with his sister and later married her.
Based on the father’s complaint, police booked Sachin Kumar, Pintu, Pawan Kumar and one unidentified person in the case.
Superintendent Ganga Ram Punia said that the victim’s father had mentioned that Sachin’s father was involved in the shooting.
SP Punia said:
“The name of of the accused Sachin’s father has also cropped up.”
“The police are investigating the case and have constituted five teams to arrest the accused who managed to escape. They will be arrested soon.”
In India, there have been numerous murder cases stemming from unapproved marriages.
In one case, police registered a case against a father after he killed and cremated his own daughter.
It was revealed that the killing happened after the man found out that his daughter had a love marriage. He was angered that she ran away from home and married a young man from a different caste.
Police have identified the main suspect as Ram Singh, however, police also registered a case against several other people for their roles in the murder.
The victim had been a class 12 student when she got into a relationship with a boy from Haryana. He was from a different caste but she still loved him.
On March 29, 2020, the two lovers ran away from home and got married.
However, they were caught by the police as they had breached lockdown rules.
Both families were called and were told about what happened.
The young woman’s family were angered and brought her back home where they locked her in a room.
Her father, Ram Singh, considered his daughter’s love marriage to be disrespectful. On April 1, 2020, he and his accomplices killed her.
They later cremated her body before the sun came up and her ashes were collected in the evening.
