A police investigation is underway after an Indian mother and lover were brutally murdered.
The violent incident happened in Aliabad village in Vijayapura, Karnataka, on Tuesday, July 21, 2020.
It was reported that they were killed by the woman’s husband and son after they caught the two lovers together. They knew about the affair but had reached a compromise so that the lovers would be forbidden from seeing each other.
Police have identified the victims as Sunita Talwar and her 25-year-old lover Amaranath Solapur.
According to police, Amaranath had visited Sunita at her farmhouse on the night of July 21. Her husband Sabu Benakanalli heard about what his wife was up to and rushed to the farmhouse with his minor son.
They entered the farmhouse and caught the Indian mother and her lover red-handed.
Enraged, Sabu and his son picked up an axe and repeatedly struck the two lovers, killing them instantly.
Superintendent Anupam Agarwal revealed that Sabu and his son have been arrested.
He said: “It is learnt that Sabu was aware of the affair between his wife and Amaranath.
“In a meeting organised in the presence of elders in the village, he had told them to stay away from each other. However, the duo continued to meet.”
Vijayapura rural inspector Mahantesh Damannavar and other officials visited the spot and launched an investigation.
A case had been registered by Amaranath’s father Kupendra. While the father and son have been arrested, an investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident, a man killed his younger brother after finding out that he was having an affair with his wife. He also killed his young niece.
Police identified the perpetrator as Shankar Gond while the victims were named as Sushil and Sanjana.
According to Superintendent Siddharth Bahuguna, the double murder came to light on the morning of June 30, 2020, when a crowd gathered outside Sushil’s house.
The village leader explained that someone had used a sharp weapon to kill Sushil and his daughter.
Officers immediately knew that the victims were killed by someone they knew.
It was revealed that Sanjana was killed shortly after her father. The investigation came to a conclusion after police noticed a difference in statements by the family members.
Officers found out about the affair when they spoke to Shankar’s wife.
She admitted that she had taken food to give to Sushil at night, however, when she entered the room, the two lovers ended up having sex.
The Indian man found out about his wife’s affair when he entered the room and found them in a compromising position.
Out of anger, he slapped his younger brother. At approximately 1:45 am, Shankar took an axe and began attacking his younger brother.
Sanjana heard what was happening and tried to intervene but she was also attacked.
