"I got very angry when my wife refused"
In a very odd and strange incident in Siddharthnagar district in India, an Indian man, named Anwarul Hasan, cut his own genitals after killing his wife because she refused to have sex with him.
24-year-old Hasan strangled and murdered his wife, Mehnaz, aged 21, after she allegedly did not agree to have sexual intercourse with him, during the incident which took place on the morning of Saturday, July 6, 2019, in Kakra Pokhar village.
Later on, he cut his own genitals, for which he is in receipt of treatment at Baba Raghav Das medical college, in Gorakhpur city.
Reports say that the couple who married over a year ago was at home alone when Hasan attacked and killed Mehnaz. This was after he had come home from working in Surat just two days prior.
When screams and noises were heard coming from their house the incident came to the attention of neighbours, who then looked through an open window to see Mehnaz lying on the ground and Hasan covered and drenched in lots of blood.
Police arrived at the scene after being called by the neighbours, who came and arrested Hasan and immediately took him for urgent medical attention at the district hospital for his self-inflicted injury.
Due to the severity of his injuries on his genitals, doctors referred Hasan to Baba Raghav Das medical college for major medial attention.
The body of Mehnaz was subsequently sent by police for a post-mortem.
A case has been filed by police against the accused Hasan after his wife’s father registered a complaint against him at Pathra police station in Siddharthnagar district.
At the hospital, Hasan spoke to reporters and said:
“I got very angry when my wife refused to entertain my request for sex.
“I strangulated her to death and then cut my own private parts.”
Hasan is under observation after treatment for the injury on his genitals.
Police SP from Siddharthnagar said:
“Mehnaz’s father has alleged in his complaint that his daughter was being harassed by the accused for dowry.”
In a similar case in March 2019, Ashok Panchanam Kumar from Odisha, strangled his 39-year-old wife, K Bindu, after she refused to have sex with him.
Kumar confessed the murder to police in Goa and said that after he demanded sex from his wife, she made a comment about their daughter that enraged him.
He said his wife told him “to have sex with some other women or wait till their daughter grows up.” This resulted in him strangling and killing her.
