A 40-year-old headmaster of a primary school in Telangana has been arrested by police for allegedly sexually assaulting minor girls.

The headmaster allegedly sexually assaulted as many as five children aged between six and ten years old, starting from August 2020.

The accused allegedly took the children from their homes on the pretext of extra tutorial lessons on multiple occasions.

He reportedly forced the children to watch pornographic content before sexually assaulting them.

The abuse came into light after one of the victims fell ill in December 2020.

The seven-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital, where she told her mother that she was sexually assaulted.

She also alleged that the headmaster had threatened her if she told anyone about the abuse.

District Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Dutt, supervising the case, stated:

“The accused has been booked and arrested for sexual assault on minor girls of the school.

“He was arrested on December 16, 2020, and will be sent to remand.”

A senior police officer added that the crimes occurred between August and November 2020.

Dutt added: “One of the girls’ parents complained and during the investigation, we got to know that he has assaulted four other girls as well.”

A statement of the seven-year-old survivor’s mother alleged:

“The headmaster threatened our children against disclosing the abuse.”

The accused was allegedly thrashed by some of the parents of the assaulted minor girls.

Police and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) authorities have sent the survivors for the medical examination.

The accused resides in Kothagudem town of Telangana according to the police.

A case was registered against him under 376AB (punishment for rape of woman under 12 years of age) of the Indian Penal Code.

As well as section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The school education department in Telangana has necessitated 50% attendance for the teachers in each school every day.

The state government necessitated the policy, in order to curb the rising Covid-19 cases in the state.

The village school where the alleged abuse happened only has two teachers including the accused headmaster.

The headmaster took advantage of being the only teacher in the school to prey on the minor girls.

The police have yet to release statements of the parents of the other minor girls assaulted by the accused.
