It is being touted as the most expensive Netflix original ever
South Indian star Dhanush has just signed a Hollywood film titled The Gray Man.
He has been cast alongside Hollywood’s royalty, Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling.
The film also stars Ana de Armas and is being helmed by Avengers: Endgame‘s famous director duo, Anthony and Joe Russo.
They are famed for their huge contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and are popularly known as the ‘Russo Brothers’
The movie is being made under the umbrella of Netflix, the web streaming platform.
It is being touted as the most expensive Netflix original ever with an estimated reported budget of over £150 million.
Dhanush will be joining a distinguished cast that also includes Warner Moura of Narcos fame, Jessica Henwick and Julia Butters.
Netflix made the announcement on its Twitter account. The confirmation in a tweet read:
“THE GRAY MAN cast just got even better.
“Jessica Henwick, Wagner Moura, Dhanush, and Julia Butters will join Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas in the upcoming action thriller from directors Anthony and Joe Russo.”

Dhanush made his Hollywood debut in 2018 with The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir (2018).
He is reportedly set to shoot for 45 days for The Gray Man.
The movie is being produced by Russo Brothers’ production company – AGBO.
The script has been penned by Joe Russo with help from Endgame screenwriter Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
Netflix India also broke the news of Dhanush featuring in a big Hollywood film with an emphatic Instagram post with the caption:
“DHANUSH IN A NETFLIX FILM WITH CHRIS EVANS, RYAN GOSLING, ANA DE ARMAS AND DIRECTED BY THE RUSSO BROTHERS! ”
Speaking to Deadline, director of the film, Anthony Russo said:
“The movie is a real mano a mano between those two great actors who represent two different versions of the CIA, in what it can be, and what it can do.
“For those who were fans of Captain America: Winter Soldier, this is us moving into that territory in more of a real-world setting.
“That’s what this movie really means for us.”
At the beginning of 2020, Joe Russo wrote Extraction, a film starring another Indian actor Randeep Hooda and Chris Hemsworth.
The film was set in Dhaka and also featured Pankaj Tripathi in a small role.
The Gray Man is based on Mark Greaney’s 2009 novel of the same name.
The novel’s plot revolves around an assassin and former CIA agent.
The movie will have Gentry (Gosling) as he is hunted across the world by Lloyd Hansen (Evans), an ex-member of Gentry’s CIA team.
However, the role of the Tamil superstar hasn’t been revealed yet.
According to Deadline, the film will begin its first stage of production in January 2021 in Los Angeles.
