"he is completely isolated from any human contact.”
The sons of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan fear they may never see their father again, claiming he is being “psychologically tortured” in a “death cell”.
Kasim and Sulaiman Khan said they have not spoken to their father for months, despite repeated attempts.
Khan has been in prison since August 2023, following his arrest and subsequent convictions in multiple cases he claims were politically motivated.
Speaking to Sky News’ The World with Yalda Hakim, Kasim described the conditions his father is allegedly being held in, claiming prolonged isolation and exposure to severe health risks.
He said: “He’s been in a solitary confinement cell for over two years, where he’s had filthy water, he is around inmates who are dying of hepatitis, the conditions are disgusting and also he is completely isolated from any human contact.”
Kasim said the family’s hopes of securing relief were fading as conditions inside the prison deteriorated further:
“It’s getting harder to see a route out at this point. We’re trying to have faith. But at the same time, right now, the conditions are getting worse.
“It’s very hard to see a way out… We’re now worried we might never see him again.”
Kasim said his father was being subjected to “psychological torture tactics”, alleging that even prison guards were barred from communicating with him.
Sulaiman said Imran Khan spends up to 23 hours a day inside a cell that has been described to the family as a “death cell”.
He said an army spokesperson announced that Imran Khan was now officially in full isolation.
Sulaiman added that his father was being kept in “completely substandard conditions that don’t meet international law for any sort of prisoner”.
The brothers’ claims echo comments made earlier in December 2025 by Imran Khan’s sister, Uzma Khanum, after she was allowed to meet him in prison.
She said her brother was facing isolation and psychological strain following weeks in which the family alleged access had been blocked.
Imran Khan was first jailed after his August 2023 arrest, when he received a three-year sentence for illegally selling state gifts.
He has since been convicted in a series of cases, which he maintains were pursued to sideline him after his removal in a 2022 parliamentary vote.
Kasim said his father would “never take a deal and leave all of his other party members in jail to die and fester in these jails… instead he stays in those conditions, happy to rot and it means that he can move towards his goal of ridding Pakistan of corruption, a goal that he has stated to us a million times”.
However, the allegations were denied by Pakistan’s government.
Mosharraf Zaidi, a spokesperson for Pakistan’s prime minister, rejected claims that Imran Khan was being held in solitary confinement.
He said Khan had been in prison for around 860 days and had received 870 visits, despite regulations allowing one visit per week.
