"I don't know why my [choices] are made into a huge deal."

Humaima Malick highlighted the hypocrisy of moral policing and asked why she mostly faces criticism for her outfits while other actresses face nothing despite wearing more revealing clothes.

Speaking about criticism public figures face on social media, she said:

“People are more than ready to dish out criticism.”

Discussing her own experience, the scrutiny often extends to family members.

In September 2023, Humaima faced backlash for wearing a pink blazer-style dress and sheer stockings. Some social media users tagged her brother Feroze Khan and began criticising him.

Humaima elaborated: “They’ll say, ‘Tell your brother, look at what he’s doing’.

“If my brother is religious, they’ll tag him under my pictures, or they’ll tag me in one of my brother’s posts.

“We’re individuals, okay? I am my own person, he is responsible for his own character, right?”

She commended her brother’s character before hitting out at online critics.

Humaima Malick went on to state her feeling that she faces more criticism than other actresses for her clothing choices.

“You’ll comment on my clothes.

“There are many Pakistani actresses who do dramas and wear far more open clothes than I do. But no one talks about them.

“I don’t know why my [choices] are made into a huge deal.

“People, on their wedding days, wear ghagra cholis. Their stomach is showing or anything is showing.

“Why criticise me only? People do need to think about this.”

As Humaima Malick urged critics to reflect on their actions, she added:

“People do need to think about this. You’re sitting at home, from behind a screen, on your keyboard, just writing.

“What kind of mindset and jahalat do you have that you’re sitting in one place abusing other people? What a frustrated population.”

She also drew attention to their contrasting behaviour in real life.

“And when they meet you, they’ll pretend to be your fan. ‘Madam, may we take a selfie?'”

Humaima Malick previously opened up about her mental health struggles, admitting:

“I was in severe depression. I didn’t know, I’d keep working throughout, I didn’t realise, and I didn’t dislike anything.

“Any small sentiment would make me cry. Now, after my treatment, this has become really, really better.

“I’m a joyful, playful girl, but it takes a minute for me to cry. I can cry, I have the emotions inside me, but I don’t cry at every particular thing happening around me.”

She expressed how director Anjum Shahzad and various doctors played an important role in her healing journey.
