“There’s no need to personally attack someone.”

Huma Qureshi recently came forward to speak about being body shamed after a moviegoer commented on her weight.

Speaking about the incident, Huma stated:

“People are not reviewing films, people are just being slanderous.

“They are just trying to pull people down. If you don’t like a film, no problem.

“It’s your choice. But why do people get into personal attacks?

“And it happens a lot, not just with me and I’m sure a lot of people watching this will know exactly what I’m saying.

“There’s no need to personally attack someone.”

Speaking about her time living in Delhi, Huma Qureshi admitted she felt confident then, and it was due to this confidence that she followed her dreams of becoming an actor.

Huma Qureshi recently starred in the film Double XL, in which she portrayed the character of a higher-weight person.

The movie is based on the sensitive subject of body shaming and encourages body positivity.

However, Huma Qureshi admitted that since she played her part in this movie, she has received negative comments and that it has taken a toll on her.

She requested that people stop hurting others with their words, to gain attention.

Huma said: “The only way as an actor for you to know if what you’re doing is right or not, is by listening to these comments or the feedback you get on social media.

“After coming across negative comments I thought, there was something terribly wrong with me.”

The actress affirmed that she was still affected by negative comments, especially on social media, as there is much more exposure to multiple opinions regarding her work and appearance.

Huma Qureshi said that she attempts to accept the comments with a pinch of salt and that she tries to focus more on the appreciation she receives from her fans.

“But I also feel like certain reviewers come with certain biases.

“Because they’re also humans who have their personal biases.”

“So you just take it with a pinch of salt and move on, because ultimately what matters is how you do a project and the audience’s love.”

Huma Qureshi has made an impressionable name for herself in the film industry and starred in films such as Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, Ek Thi Daayan, and Dedh Ishqiya.
