"I found this like another Apprentice task."

Harpreet Kaur and Akshay Thakrar compared their imminent wedding to a task on The Apprentice.

The couple appeared together in the business competition in 2022, but began dating after their series had ended.

In April 2024, the pair revealed that their wedding would be a three-day ceremony.

Making a link between her nuptials and a task of The Apprentice, Harpreet said:

“When you work in business you’re very capable of juggling multiple plates at once, so I found this like another Apprentice task really.

“There are so many elements to the wedding, from picking a venue to considering your guests’ travel arrangements to making sure they don’t get bored.”

Akshay added: “There’s also the food, the finance, the timeline, even the weather, and of course the negotiations.

“That has been fun.”

In April, Harpreet and Akshay had also said that their guest list had included their colleagues from The Apprentice.

Lord Alan Sugar, Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell have all invited.

Their fellow candidates Kathryn Burn, Brittany Carter, Akeem Bundu-Kamara and Nick Showering have also been given an invitation to the ceremony.

Kathryn is also set to be one of Harpreet’s bridesmaids.

However, Harpreet admitted that Lord Sugar “politely declined because he is busy”.

The dessert parlour owner added: “The fans are so excited, some have even asked for an invite!”

Harpreet won her series of The Apprentice but parted ways with Lord Sugar in August 2023, buying back her shares in her business Oh So Yum.

The businesswoman delved into her family’s reaction when she told them about her business ambitions as someone from a South Asian background.

She explained: “I come from an extremely traditional background.

“So growing up my dad always told us to study hard and go into medicine, law or banking because they are seen as well-paid jobs.

“When I first told my dad I was going to set up my own business, it did not go down too well.

“Opening a business is seen as a risk and in some Asian cultures it may not be seen as favourable as being a homemaker.

“My dad was proud of me because I used to be in banking and thought going into business was risky.

“But safe to say by the time I won The Apprentice, he was super proud of me.

“Trends are changing and our culture is becoming a lot more accepting.”

In May 2023, Akshay proposed to Harpreet on a penthouse rooftop that overlooked The Shard.

Recollecting the moment, Harpreet said: “I couldn’t have asked for anymore. [Akshay is] a true gent.”

Meanwhile, The Apprentice wrapped its latest series on April 18, 2024, with Rachel Woolford taking home Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment.
