"They seem to think overseas Pakistanis are fools."
The recently held 10th Hum Awards 2025 in Houston, Texas, has sparked major criticism following allegations of disorganisation and mismanagement.
During Rise & Shine with Nadia Khan, overseas Pakistani attendee Nazia Khan openly discussed her disappointing experience at the highly anticipated event.
She said the ceremony, which took place on October 12, 2025, failed to meet expectations despite featuring some of Pakistan’s biggest celebrities.
Nazia stated: “Every good artist can’t be a good anchor. Dananeer Mobeen and Hamza Sohail were hosting the show, but they made so many mistakes.”
According to her, the hosts struggled to manage the live audience and frequently mispronounced the names of several well-known actors.
Recalling awkward moments, she said: “The mistakes were so frequent that some artists had to rudely correct them on stage.”
Nazia revealed that even Humayun Saeed’s name was skipped during the announcement.
“He was told backstage to go on stage, but Dananeer didn’t take his name. He came out himself and mentioned it on stage.”
She added that the overall hosting lacked spontaneity and energy.
“You need to be spontaneous on stage, but they were visibly conscious and awkward. The audience had the same feedback.”
Speaking about the styling and presentation, Nazia commented that the outfits worn by the celebrities were disappointing and poorly coordinated.
“The outfits were tacky and terribly styled. The audience members were dressed better than the hosts.”
She added that the fashion choices seemed random and unrefined.
“They wore western clothes when they could have gone for a classy fusion look.”
Commenting on the celebrities’ wardrobes, she mentioned: “Mehwish Hayat wore a shalwar kameez that looked like a walima outfit.
“Hania Aamir’s outfit didn’t fit well, and Dananeer looked like Cinderella.”
According to Nazia, earlier Hum Awards ceremonies were far better in terms of glamour, professionalism, and value for money.
She claimed: “The previous award shows were much better; HUM Awards have become overly commercialised.
“They seem to think overseas Pakistanis are fools.”
Nazia said ticket prices ranged between seven hundred to eight hundred dollars, which many attendees felt was not justified.
She revealed that the turnout was large, but many members of the audience left before the event ended due to boredom.
“The performances were just okay – Ali Zafar did well, but the rest were disappointing.
“Overall, it was a 6 out of 10 show; we had higher expectations, but it didn’t live up to them.”
The 10th edition of the Hum Awards was attended by top Pakistani celebrities.
This included Mehwish Hayat, Humayun Saeed, Ramsha Khan, Ali Zafar, Ali Haider, Shuja Asad, Ahmed Jahanzeb, and Asim Azhar.
Most of them were either nominated for popular Hum TV dramas or performed live during the ceremony.
However, despite the star-studded lineup, the criticism has raised questions about the event’s organisation and its growing focus on glamour over quality.
