The singer was not cooperating.

A district court in Maharashtra’s Nagpur has directed Yo Yo Honey Singh to appear before a local police station to submit a voice sample.

The voice sample is in connection with a case registered against him for singing and uploading an alleged obscene song on social media.

In 2015, a case was registered against Honey Singh by Anandpal Singh Jabbal for the song.

However, no song has been specified in the complaint.

Based on the complaint, the singer was booked under Sections 292, 293 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 67, 67A of the Information Technology Act.

He had been granted anticipatory bail in October 2015 by the Sessions Court at Nagpur, subject to certain conditions.

On January 27, 2022, district judge SASM Ali directed the singer to appear at Panchpaoli Police Station in Nagpur between February 4 and February 11, 2022.

The court passed the direction while hearing an application filed by the singer seeking relaxation of a condition imposed on him to travel abroad.

The court also directed him to record a voice sample in response to his application seeking relaxation of bail conditions imposed on him.

His application was opposed by the case’s investigating officer, who cited that the singer was supposed to appear at the police station but he had failed to appear.

The investigating officer claimed that the singer was not cooperating with the probe, and if he is permitted to travel, he may not remain present before the court.

After Honey Singh assured the court of his willingness to submit the voice sample, the court allowed his application.

While permitting the singer to travel to Dubai between January 29 and February 4, the court asked him to appear at the police station between February 4 and 11, 2022.

In August 2021, Honey Singh’s wife Shalini Talwar filed a case against the singer under the Protection of Women from Domestic of Women Act in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Act.

In Shalini’s petition, she claimed that she was “subjected to numerous incidents of physical abuse, verbal, mental abuse and emotional abuse” at the hands of her husband, his parents and his sister.

The rapper took to Instagram to release a statement on the allegations against him.

Posted to Instagram on August 6, 2021, his statement reads:

“I am deeply pained and distressed by the false and malicious allegations levied against me and my family by my companion/wife of 20 years, Mrs Shalini Talwar.

“The allegations are severely odious.”

Yo Yo Honey Singh continued to say that his wife has always been an important part of his life and career and that those who work with him know what his relationship with her is like.
