The main single ‘Neendran Di Chor’ also features the Mumbai artist Tanzeel Khan.

Accompanying the song is a breathtaking music video encompassing the deserts of Morocco.

Origins glistens with spellbinding content.

In our enlightening chat, Hasan Shah sheds light on Origins and his impressive music career.

Can you tell us a bit about Origins? What inspired you to create this EP?

Hasan Shah talks 'Origins' & Music Career - 1I have made music since I was 10 years old and I made a fine career in Denmark where I am based.

But I never touched Desi music or sang songs in Punjabi, my first language.

A trip back home to my family in Pakistan had a huge impact on me and I came back full of inspiration and a new spark in me that had to be explored.

I teamed up with a guy that was full of Bollywood in his bones.

Although he had never written a song in his life, we went to the studio together and created what came to be the first song on the EP, ‘Bachke Bachke’.

From that moment, we were on to something great.

It just felt right.

What has it been like collaborating with Tanzeel Khan on ‘Needran Di Chor’?

Tanzeel brings so much to the track. I remember the first phone call after I sent him my version of the track and he was electrified.

Although he was halfway around the globe, I could feel his excitement and good energy.

When he sent back his vocals for the track, we knew it was the perfect match.

Meeting Tanzeel in Morocco for the first time in person for the music video shoot just confirmed my impression of him.

He is very down-to-earth and has no ego.

It was a pleasure to make this song with my brother from Mumbai, Tanzeel.

What genres of music fascinate you as an artist and what led you to pursue music as a pathway?

Hasan Shah talks 'Origins' & Music Career - 2I grew up in the era of Justin Timberlake, Usher, and Chris Brown.

So obviously, pop and R&B have been huge influences.

But obviously, as in any other Desi household, Bollywood music has been inevitable.

It is deeply rooted in my DNA and I can still sing the melodies of Desi songs from my childhood which I don’t know the names of, but which have just stuck with me for some reason.

Apart from that, there is one very different genre which fascinates me a lot, but I’m not going to talk about it just now.

I’ll let you hear it my next project to come.

Can you describe your songwriting process? Do you have to be in a particular mood when writing a song or does it happen organically?

Hasan Shah talks 'Origins' & Music Career - 3There is no writing session without Ramses.

They say two brains are better than one, but Ramses is more like the second half of my brain that I can bounce ideas with.

Sometimes, things come very easily to us.

And other times, we get stuck at one sentence for hours, but it’s all part of the process.

What Desi music artists inspire you and in what ways?

I still feel very new to the Desi music scene.

When looking at other young Desi artists who are at a certain place in their careers, where I myself aspire to get at some point, I feel quite inspired.

At the moment, I follow the journey of Zaeden.

I am inspired by his visual identity and style.

I find Mitraz very interesting as they have a very clear, musical distinguishable identity.

What do you hope listeners will take away from Origins?
