Rapper Hard Kaur has been accused of sedition and defamation for the comments she made on social media about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat.

As a result of the allegations, she has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In a social media post on June 18, 2019, Kaur called Adityanath an “orange rapeman.”

She also wrote: “If this guy was a superhero his name would be – Rapeman Yogi.

“You call him when you want your sisters, mothers, daughters raped. National Hero. I personally call him #OrangeRapeMan.”

The rapper also posted comments about RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on the same day. She called him a “racist murderer” and said he was responsible for all of India’s terrorist attacks.

She posted: “He is responsible for all terrorist attacks in India including 26/11, Pulwama attack. The face of all problems in India.

“Consitutional casteism is a crime. You are banned by Sardar Patel ji after [Mahatma] Gandhi’s murder by [Nathuram] Godse.

“You are not allowed to function.

“In history, Mahatma, Buddha and Mahavir fought against the brahminical caste system. You are not a nationalist, you are a racist murderer.”

Hard Kaur also accused Bhagwat of committing murder. In a third post, she shared the book cover of ‘Who Killed Karkare’ by SM Mushrif, former inspector general of police, Maharashtra.

A volunteer for RSS claimed he was extremely hurt to see the accusations against Adityanath and Bhagwat on social media.

A complaint was filed by a local lawyer called Shashank Shekhar. Kaur was subsequently booked under the IPC.

The charges are under sections 124A (sedition, attempt to excite disaffection or hatred), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion), 500 (defamation) and 505 (intent to incite).

Hard Kaur was also booked under section 66 of the IT Act (for sending offensive messages).

Inspector Vijay Pratap Singh explained that a first information report was filed against the rapper and the matter is being investigated.
