"An excited Madhuri couldn’t hold herself back"
Besides being an amazing Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit is also a spectacular dancer.
Whilst shooting for the first episode of the reality show Dance Deewane 2, the ‘Dhak Dhak’ girl found inspiration from a contestant to perform some belly dance on stage.
Madhuri will be appearing as a judge with Shashank Khaitan and Tushar Kalia for the much-loved dance programme airing on Colors TV.
Dance Deewane 2 provides a great opportunity for budding performers from all age groups to display their passion for dance.
Earlier, Madhuri had expressed a desire to learn belly dancing. Her wish came true when she gave Belly Dancing a try with a participant on the dance reality show.
A source from the set states:
“While a second generation contestant called Shaina did belly dancing on the song ‘O Womaniya’, Madhuri Dixit was in awe of her and praised her graceful moves.
“An excited Madhuri couldn’t hold herself back and went on stage to learn this dance form from Shaina. ”
The Mumbai born actress who became Madhuri Dixit Nene after marriage feels that age should not be a barrier when it comes to talent. She told IANS:
“I believe that age cannot and should not restrict someone to dance. Earlier in other dance shows, usually children would participate and the parents would watch the performance as a part of the audience.
“With this show, we are breaking that norm and the whole family gets to participate… from three generations — the kids, their parents as well as grandparents.
“This year, we have got so much active participation from the elder generation because they have got encouragement from our first season.”
In reply to a question about discovering her talent as a choreographer, Madhuri added:
“Recently, I went to a music reality TV show called ‘Rising Star’, where I did an impromptu performance…”
“Shankar Mahadevan, one of the judges of the show, was singing a beautiful ‘tarana’ and I was dancing on that.”
During Dance Deewane 2, Madhuri who is famous in the industry for her dancing quickly got into the groove, learning to dance and perform with sheer finesse and conviction.
Her ability to grasp the dance move with utmost ease was impressive as Madhuri is matching the participant step by step by step.
For the shoot, the participant wore a golden choli (blouse) alongside a green lengha (skirt), with sequin leggings underneath. Meanwhile, Madhuri was dressed in an elegant black saree, with pink lining.
After making her film industry debut in 1984, Madhuri reached peak heights.
The actress who is known for her eternal beauty and dancing skills came in some super hits films: These include Tezaab (1988), Ram Lakhan (1989), Dil (1990), Saajan (1991), Beta (1992), Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1995) and Devdas (2002).
The ‘Ek Do Teen’ girl has previously been involved with the production of 15 August on Netflix. From a contemporary work perspective, Madhuri was part of Karan Johar’s period drama Kalank (2019).
An Abhishek Varman direction, the film also had Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt playing main roles. Set in pre-partition India, Kalank came out on April 17, 2019.
Madhuri has a long association with reality TV shows, having previously been the judge on Jhalak Dhikla Jaa (2010-2104) and So You Think You Can Dance (2016).
