"Indian cuisine is deeply loved by locals.”

Indian snack and sweets giant Haldiram’s will open its first UK restaurant in London’s Leicester Square in June 2026, marking a major milestone in the brand’s global expansion.

Expected to have 120 seats, the restaurant will span 3,000 square feet and include 20 heated outdoor seats.

The launch introduces a full-service casual dining concept for Haldiram’s in the UK, moving beyond the company’s traditional quick-service model.

Founded in 1937, Haldiram’s is known worldwide for its packaged snacks and sweets.

The company already sells products in supermarkets across the world.

The company is known for its sweets, snacks and regional dishes, with a presence in more than 80 countries and over 200 restaurants across North India.

However, the impending launch of its restaurant in London signals the company’s move beyond retail products and into large-scale sit-down dining overseas.

The London site aims to bring the brand’s best-known flavours to a wider audience while offering a more premium dining experience.

Its menu will feature popular Indian dishes including choley bhature, pao bhaji and raj kachori. Diners can also expect an extensive chaat selection alongside fusion-inspired desserts created exclusively for the London restaurant.

The venue will also include a dedicated retail section featuring a sweets counter and shelves stocked with Haldiram’s packaged products for takeaway. UK-exclusive retail products are expected to follow.

Interiors at the restaurant will combine Indian heritage-inspired details with contemporary design, reflecting the growing demand for elevated Indian dining experiences in London.

Leading the expansion is Rhea Agarwal, a third-generation entrepreneur from the founding family, overseeing the brand’s growth across the UK and Europe.

Agarwal said London felt like a “natural choice” for its first UK restaurant.

She told Broadsheet: “It’s a city that holds deep personal significance for me, having spent over a decade living here.

“The UK has a large and thriving South Asian community, and Indian cuisine is deeply loved by locals.”

Agarwal looks forward to bringing Londoners a wider range of flavours and recipes inspired by local eateries across India:

“We are especially known for taking beloved Indian street food [dishes] and presenting it in a way that is both refined and accessible.

“For many Indians living abroad, these flavours carry a deep sense of nostalgia. At the same time, we want to introduce a wider audience to the diversity of Indian cuisine.”

Haldiram’s has been running a production facility in Southall, West London since 2018, supplying the UK and Europe with Indian sweets.

The restaurant, Agarwal explains, will serve these sweets at a retail counter alongside other UK-exclusive takeaway products.

The Leicester Square opening represents one of the brand’s most ambitious international moves to date as Haldiram’s looks to strengthen its presence in the global dining market.
