The refusal of poppadoms caused a fight to erupt at an Indian wedding.

The shocking incident happened in the city of Alappuzha, Kerala, and footage of the brawl went viral.

According to reports, the bride is from Muttom and the groom is from Thrikkunnapuzha.

It was reported that the fight happened in the dining hall after the groom’s friends were refused poppadoms.

The friends had asked for more poppadoms. However, the catering staff refused.

This led to an argument between them and the staff.

Things escalated when more people joined in on the argument. Moments later, a fight broke out.

Grainy footage showed two groups fighting against one another. Meanwhile, people are heard screaming at the chaos.

At the venue, people are seen throwing punches. One man is seen hitting another man with his shoe.

Things got more extreme when some of the guests used catering equipment to attack one another. Chairs and tables were also thrown.

The incident left six people injured.

The user shared the footage on Twitter and wrote:

“In the great 100 per cent literate state of Kerala, a fist fight broke out at a wedding after friends of the bridegroom demanded papad during the feast.”

A case was registered by the Alappuzha Police and 10 guests were reportedly booked. Police are in the process of identifying them.

An official said: “A few friends of the bridegroom asked for more papad, which the employees of the catering agency refused to serve.

“A war of words ensued. Later the groups clashed and threw chairs.”

The video went viral and it garnered a number of reactions.

One person joked:

“WWE for papad! By the way, who won the brawl?”

Another said: “Slaps for papads at a Kerala wedding.”

One user was not surprised by the fight, recalling an experience in which guests rushed and pushed each other to get their food.

The netizen wrote: “Actually in Kerala the way people rush pushing each other to the dining hall to get a seat to have food is unbelievable.

“Don’t know why it is so, have experienced it and this pushing each other is too normal there.”

It was reported that the owner of the venue was also injured.

Muraleedharan heard the commotion and rushed to the scene.

But he was caught up in the middle of the fight, being struck on the head.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Muraleedharan says he suffered losses worth Rs. 1.5 Lakh (£1,600) as his belongings in the venue were damaged in the midst of the chaos at the Indian wedding.
