"one of the worst commentators of all time"

Sanjay Manjrekar has left Ravindra Jadeja out of his preferred Indian squad for the WTC final – and netizens are not happy.

India is due to take on New Zealand in the WTC final on Friday, June 18, 2021.

With the match inching ever closer, several cricket pundits came forward with their preferred team selection.

Cricketer-turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar pitched his preferred starting 11, considering the conditions at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl.

However, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja did not secure a place in Manjrekar’s team.

Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Indian captain Virat Kohli and his team should go with only one spin bowler in the WTC final.

The commentator chose Ravichandran Ashwin as his single spinner.

Bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj also made Manjrekar’s squad.

Manjrekar said that he is picking his team based on the English conditions, which tend to be sunny and cloudy on the same day.

However, netizens have slammed him for not giving in-form Ravindra Jadeja a place in the team.

Twitter users are taking to the platform to criticise the commentator for his decision.

One user said: “He hates Jadeja, Manjrekar will never keep Jadeja in his team whatever his form will be.”

Another wrote: “No Jadeja in Sanjay Manjrekar’s WTC XI.

“You can exclude Virat Kohli but not Ravindra Jadeja when he’s available.”

A third said:

“Best way to win a match by any team is simply listen to Sanjay and plan the game exactly opposite to what he says.”

Netizens also took to Twitter to take personal jibes at Sanjay Manjrekar.

One user said:

“Sanjay Manjrekar is one of the worst commentators of all time due to his biased nature and outdated opinion about the game in all formats.”

Previously, Sanjay Manjrekar has also received flack for referring to Ravindra Jadeja as a “bits and pieces cricketer”.

India and New Zealand will face off in the WTC final from June 18 to June 22, 2021.

A reserve day has been set for June 23, 2021, to ensure five full days of play.

If lost playing time cannot be recovered through the normal provisions of making up lost time each day, the reserve day will be used.

There will be no additional day’s play if a positive result is not achieved after five full days.

In this case, the match will be declared a draw.
