"Hadsa is one of the best dramas I’ve watched"

As Hadsa came to an end, the final episode was applauded for the message that was delivered by lead actress Hadiqa Kiani.

The scene shows Taskeen (Hadiqa) on stage addressing an audience and speaking about how a woman was created to be gentle and loving.

She goes on to tell women to stand up for their rights and to be aware of their surroundings.

The message of women’s empowerment and resilience was well received by fans of the drama and human rights lawyer Reema Omar took to X to share her opinions. She said:

“Taskeen is shown as someone who lives her life on her terms and principles.

“She refuses to be intimidated by her daughter’s fiance and does not bow down before her brother on an issue of inheritance.

“She speaks openly about a woman’s right to make her own choices. Hadsa is one of the best dramas I’ve watched so far!

“Enlightening the topic which is always ignored, waking those women up who are afraid to raise their voice!

“The cast was just amazing and no one could play this role better than Hadiqa Kiani.

“Every dialogue was worth it!”

One viewer added: “What an outstanding performance by Hadiqa! She deserves to receive an award for her role.

“This drama should give hope to the many women who survive rape, abuse and harassment at the hands of men who degrade females in our society.

“This drama is a voice against oppression. Bravo to everyone who put this together.”

Another agreed: “Amazing! This drama has taught people to not stay quiet on such an important topic. To take a stand for women.

“Hadiqa has done wonders, she always picks such amazing scripts. Well done to the Hadsa team.”

Many other fans agreed with the sentiments and said that not only was it refreshing to see a rapist be convicted for his crime, but that Hadsa was the must-watch serial of 2023.

Producer Wajahat Rauf shared his thoughts about the love he has received.

He stated:

“I am overwhelmed, especially to see people’s opinions changing after watching the whole drama in its entirety.”

“I think people resonated with Taskeen and their posts and comments show that they rooted for her, as she brought her criminals to justice with the support of her three children, an efficient law enforcement team and a functional justice system.”

Wajahat also pointed out that closing your eyes and ignoring issues like secular violence would not make it go away, and that Hadsa was produced to raise awareness in society.

He admitted that he would work on more projects that would raise awareness for such issues.

“Sometimes, it is taxing and things get sensitive, but in the end, I’d like to believe that we play a small part in doing something good.”

Hadsa highlighted the struggles faced by a rape victim who fought to bring her attackers to justice whilst dealing with the trauma and changed behaviours of her loved ones towards her.

Although the show initially garnered controversy, it went on to be praised as it focused on the emotions a rape victim goes through.

Alongside Hadiqa Kiani, the drama starred Aly Khan, Saleem Mairaj, Juggan Kazim, Fariha Jabeen, Zhalay Sarhadi, Aamir Qureshi and Abdullah Javed.

Hadsa was written by Zanjabeel Asim and directed by Wajahat Rauf.
