Rebecca joked it was "inappropriate for a 48-year-old".
ITV Emmerdale star Rebecca Sarker has reacted to critics saying that her outfit choices are “inappropriate”, revealing that her son is her main critic.
The actress, who plays Manpreet Sharma on the soap, has two sons, aged 11 and 16.
At the TRIC awards in June 2023, Rebecca caused a stir when she wore a crop top, blue shorts and orange strappy sandals.
Some criticised her casual style.
One person said it was something they would “wear for a run” and she looked “out of place” alongside her Emmerdale co-stars.
This prompted Rebecca’s fans to come to her defence.
One said: “Why are people talking about what Manpreet is wearing… age is just a number and you only live once.
Another fan commented: “If you’ve got it, flaunt it. She’s definitely got it!”
Speaking about her outfit, Rebecca joked it was “inappropriate for a 48-year-old”.
When asked who had told her that, she replied:
“My son.”
On Instagram, Rebecca wows fans with images of herself in bikinis and figure-hugging dresses.
Rebecca has been involved in a number of big storylines over the years. This includes being instrumental in the downfall of her serial killer sister Meena Jutla.
The psychopath murdered at least five Emmerdale residents, including her own father, Nadine Butler, Leanna Cavanagh, Andrea Tate and Ben Tucker.
Played by Paige Sandhu, Meena was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2022.
On how much she loved playing the scenes, Paige said:
“These scenes have been some of my most favourite scenes.
“Meena is at her best in these scenes, she’s funny, she’s wild, she’s scary, she’s created this plan which is so over the top, but just works.”
Confirming that she would be leaving the soap, Paige said:
“There are two people’s lives that hang in the balance over this week.
”This is the beginning of the end for Meena but there’s more drama to come!”
Explaining why she loved playing Meena, Paige said:
“She’s crazy, she’s wild, she’s intense, she’s charismatic.
“I feel like I have the freedom to do whatever I want in a scene which probably means I go too far quite often.
“I come with as many ideas as possible and play with them and see what works.”
Despite leaving Emmerdale, Rebecca Sarker still keeps in touch with her former co-star.
Revealing that she is really close with her on-screen sister, Rebecca said:
“We keep in touch, we couldn’t not.
“You become friends on a show like this, when you work so closely to someone it’s absolutely natural that you would keep in touch.”
