Dilip Joshi reportedly grabbed Asit Modi by the neck
There have been reports of a clash between Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah star Dilip Joshi and producer Asit Modi.
Dilip is known for his long-standing role as Jethalal in the popular show.
Claims surfaced that Dilip had quit the show after a heated argument with Asit.
According to sources, the conflict arose in early August 2024, when Dilip Joshi requested a few days off, which Asit Modi allegedly denied.
This incident occurred on the last day of Kush Shah’s shoot, with Dilip waiting for Asit to discuss his leave request.
When Asit Modi emerged, he chose to speak with Kush instead of addressing Dilip, which apparently fuelled the actor’s frustration.
The situation allegedly escalated, culminating in a physical confrontation where Dilip Joshi reportedly grabbed Asit Modi by the neck during an intense exchange of words.
Despite the dramatic reports, Dilip Joshi has refuted claims about the altercation, expressing his dismay at the negative narratives surrounding the show.
In a statement to the media, he asserted:
“There have been some stories in the media about me and Asit Bhai that are completely false, and it really saddens me to see such things being said.”
He emphasised the significance of TMKOC to both himself and its millions of fans.
The actor urged for a focus on the positivity the show brings rather than unfounded rumours.
Dilip Joshi also highlighted the ongoing challenges of dealing with persistent speculation, stating:
“Every time such rumours pop up, it feels like we’re constantly explaining that they are completely untrue. It’s tiring, and it’s frustrating.”
He reiterated that earlier rumours regarding his exit from the show were also untrue.
“Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a show that means so much to me and millions of fans.
“When people spread baseless rumours, it hurts not only us but also our loyal viewers.”
Dilip Joshi insisted that there is unity between the cast and crew, adding:
“We all stand together in our commitment to make this show the best it can be.”
This is not the first time that the long-running show has been embroiled in controversy.
In May 2023, Jennifer Mistry accused the show’s makers of sexual harassment.
She claimed Asit Modi made sexual advances towards her.
Responding to the allegations made by Jennifer, the makers denied them and said they would be taking legal action against her.
