Bisht engaged with over 500 women on Bumble

A Delhi-based man has been arrested for scamming over 700 women on dating apps.

Tushar Singh Bisht pretended to be an American model on a trip to India to carry out the mass fraud.

He worked as a technical recruiter but according to police, he was drawn to the world of cybercrime due to greed and his lust for women.

After obtaining an international phone number via an app, Bisht created fake profiles on various dating and social media platforms.

He pretended to be an American model visiting India, using photos of a real model from Brazil.

Police said his targets were women aged between 18 and 30, befriending them on these platforms.

After gaining their trust, Bisht requested their phone numbers and intimate photos. Unbeknownst to his victims, he saved the pictures.

Police said he initially did this for personal amusement but over time, it became a systematic scheme of extortion.

Bisht used the intimate pictures to blackmail his victims into giving him money.

If a victim refused his demands, he would threaten to post the intimate images online or sell them on the dark web.

According to police, Bisht engaged with over 500 women on Bumble and over 200 on Snapchat and WhatsApp.

Bisht’s crimes came to light when a Delhi University student filed a police complaint on December 13, 2024.

She explained that in January 2024, she matched with Bisht on Bumble.

He told her he was a US-based model and they began chatting. Their chats later moved to WhatsApp and Snapchat.

During their exchanges, the student shared personal photos and videos with Bisht.

When she asked to meet in person, Bisht made several excuses. He then sent her one of her private videos and demanded money, threatening to leak it online if she refused.

The young woman paid a small amount while explaining her financial constraints as a student.

But when he continued to pressure her, she confided in her family and subsequently filed a complaint.

Police launched an investigation and identified Bisht as the suspect after tracing his online activities. A raid in Shakarpur led to his arrest.

During the raid, police seized a phone containing incriminating data, a virtual international mobile number linked to his scams, and 13 credit cards.

Police also recovered over 60 WhatsApp conversations with women from Delhi and nearby areas.

At least four other victims have been identified. Police are working to identify more.

The investigation uncovered two bank accounts linked to Tushar. One account contained entries of payments made by his victims, while details of the second account are still under investigation.
