Chocolate boy of Indian cinema Shahid Kapoor tied the knot with fiancé Mira Rajput, in what was the most anticipated Bollywood shaadi of 2015.
The Delhi-ite is notably not a Bollywood celebrity, and Shahid aka Sasha prefers it that way.
Despite his long connections with the actresses of India, the actor insisted that he would not marry anyone from Bollywood.
But there was a time in Shahid’s life when the thought of marrying a Bollywood beauty was a possibility.
So who were these lucky ladies? DESIblitz looks at the confirmed and unconfirmed ex-beaus of Shahid in Bollywood.
Kareena Kapoor Khan
Perhaps the most epic of loves (even by Bollywood standards) was the long-term romance of Shahid and Bebo (aka Kareena Kapoor).
Opposites certainly attracted in this case with the extroverted and talkative Kareena and the very reserved Shahid. Bebo admitted to spotting Shahid and initiated the romance that led to them dating.
Shahid has since admitted that while they had nothing in common, it was the most stable of his relationships, lasting almost four years.
The break-up notably left Shahid in a pretty bad state, which was saved only by the huge success of Jab We Met (2007).
Later, Kareena went on to marry Saif Ali Khan, after falling for him on the sets of Tashan (2008). The pair tied the knot in 2012 and have enjoyed married bliss ever since.
Kareena has since spoke about Shahid’s wedding, saying:
“I was aware about his marriage. Shahid had told me he is getting married. I am happy. Marriage is a beautiful commitment and I wish him all the best.”
Vidya Balan
After his break-up with Bebo, Shahid reportedly dated Vidya Balan. Yet, the romance didn’t work because Shahid was still recovering from the end of his love with Kareena.
The pair met on the set of the film Kismet Konnection (2008) and they were described as connecting instantly.
Their love story proved not be lasting however, as after this movie their bond did not continue. Vidya was not looking for a short relationship, but was apparently searching for love.
In his newly singly state, Shahid was unable to give Vidya the affection she wanted.
This romance sparked much interest amongst fans, and when asked about it Shahid inisted: “We get along, we’re not dating.” Yet the pair were seen together multiple times.
Priyanka Chopra
After his break-up with Vidya, Shahid was single again, and met Priyanka on the set of his next film, Kaminey (2009).
Fans saw for themselves the onscreen chemistry of the couple, and they were seen by TV audiences on the chat show Koffee With Karan together.
The Kaminey filmmaker also constantly hinted at their relationship, fuelling speculation.
They later allegedly broke up, but continued to remain on good terms, starring together in the film Teri Meri Kahaani (2012). Shahid was also seen comforting Priyanka at her father’s funeral.
Sonakshi Sinha
Though Shahid and Sonakshi always claimed to be ‘just friends’, many suspected their relationship to be something more after they appeared together in R…Rajkumar (2013).
It was reported that because Shahid couldn’t make it to Sonakshi’s birthday party, he arranged to take her out for a long drive after her birthday bash.
A friend of Sonakshi claimed to have said: “Shahid was running late and couldn’t meet her while she partied in Bandra with her other friends.
“However, once the do was wrapped up, Shahid arrived and the two spent quite a substantial amount of time together.”
Nargis Fakhri
This romance first grabbed media attention when Shahid held a four-day birthday celebration in Goa, and reportedly headed down to the resort a few days early with Nargis.
A source told reporters in Mumbai: “Nargis is Shahid’s latest love. Since the past few days, the two are spending a lot of quality time with each other.
“They were attracted to each other then their friendship grew after returning to Mumbai.”
Since both Shahid and Nargis had been in a series of relationships before allegedly dating, many wondered how long the new romance would last.
Bipasha Basu
For a while as rumours circulated, Bipasha would not say who she was dating, only that she was seeing ‘someone new’.
It later emerged that this mystery man might be Shahid. It is reported the two were introduced by Shahid’s personal trainer, Abbas.
Both Bipasha and Shahid are fitness junkies, and so the pair connected through this common acquaintance.
They were spotted out and about together during the evenings, and one source said that Shahid even invited Bipasha to a small gathering at his home, with his close friends. The source said: “Her presence there raised quite a few eyebrows.”
But Bipasha’s spokesperson said: “They are friends, just as he is friends with other people in the industry. The news of them dating is untrue.”
Yet fans remained unconvinced, as the pair’s appearances together suggested much more than friendship.
Other rumoured Bollywood flings of Shahid included the likes of Amrita Rao, Huma Qureshi and Anushka Sharma.
In late 2013, the actor finally decided to forgo his Casanova status in Bollywood and said: “I think I should date a normal girl. I am tired of dating heroines.”
After all these rumoured romances on the gossip vine, Shahid finally got hitched to a 21-year-old girl from Delhi, instead of a Bollywood star.
Many celebs took to Twitter on Shahid’s special day to wish him well, including his rumoured and confirmed ex-girlfriends.
