A show-cause notice had first been issued.

Singer and rapper Badshah’s nightclub, SAGO By Badshah, in Chandigarh, has been sealed by the local administration for multiple alleged violations.

The action was carried out by the Enforcement Wing of the Chandigarh Administration at the Sector 26 premises.

Officials cited large-scale unauthorised construction on the establishment’s ground and second floors as the primary reason for the sealing.

The detected violations included the creation of cabins and partitions, construction of toilets and kitchens and a cold storage area within the premises.

Authorities also flagged the covering of open courtyards with MS structures and fibre sheets as part of the unauthorised construction activity.

Installation of tin sheds, creation of additional storage areas and alterations to the originally sanctioned building plan were also cited.

Changes made to the rear elevation of the building were additionally noted among the list of compliance-related deficiencies found during inspections.

A show-cause notice had first been issued to the establishment as far back as April 25, 2024, by the Estate Office officials.

That notice had directed the club management to explain the alleged violations and either remove or regularise the unauthorised structures promptly.

However, despite receiving repeated notices over a considerable period of time, the management neither rectified nor sought approval for the violations.

This persistent non-compliance ultimately prompted the Chandigarh Administration to proceed with the formal sealing of the entire premises.

The action against SAGO By Badshah forms part of a broader and ongoing crackdown on nightlife establishments across Sector 26 in Chandigarh.

In recent weeks, the administration has sealed two to three other clubs in the same area for similar building regulation violations.

Several additional establishments have also received notices, and officials indicated that further sealing action could follow.

The sealing has brought renewed attention to SAGO By Badshah, a venue that had already attracted considerable public scrutiny in the recent past.

Nearly two years ago, explosions were reported outside two nightlife venues in Chandigarh’s Sector 26.

Following the explosions, social media posts purportedly linked to gangsters Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara surfaced online and claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Those posts alleged that the blasts were carried out after demands for protection money from the club owners had gone completely unanswered.

Law enforcement and security agencies launched investigations into the blast incident following the circulation of those deeply concerning social media messages.

However, officials have made clear that recent sealing action is entirely separate from that earlier security incident.

The current enforcement action is linked solely and specifically to the alleged building regulation violations identified at the SAGO By Badshah premises.

Whether SAGO By Badshah will be able to reopen after addressing the identified violations remains to be seen as the matter continues to develop.
