Ayesha Omar addressed the ongoing rumours that she had an affair with Shoaib Malik during her appearance on the Pakistani talk show Something Haute.
The Yalghaar actress revealed why her photoshoot with Shoaib Malik was identified as one of the causes of Shoaib and his wife Sania Mirza’s rumoured split.
Ayesha clarified the situation by talking about how she came to be associated with the Shoaib-Sania divorce rumours.
There was speculation that Shoaib and Sania were set to divorce.
Some reports claimed that it was due to Shoaib having an affair with an actress. Ayesha’s name came to the fore after pictures of her photoshoot with Shoaib circulated.
Ayesha has now revealed that the photoshoot took place in 2021, but the Indian media chose to cover it in 2022 when the divorce speculation first came to light.
Ayesha said: “First of all I did that photoshoot with Shoaib Malik last year.
“Actually, the people across the border thought that the photoshoot was recent, so they picked it up after a year of being published and it made the rounds again.
“I don’t have any intention to be controversial. I have been very afraid all my life.”
Ayesha further questioned why they would conduct a whole photoshoot session together and put it online if they were having an affair.
The actress addressed that she does not affiliate herself with married men. She continued:
“I always stay away from married people or the men who are committed as I don’t like to link my name or to have an affair with these people.”
In the same interview, the actress also revealed her marriage plans.
She stated that she wanted to embrace motherhood as well and confirmed that she is ready to enter a new phase in life.
In November 2021, after the photoshoot with Shoaib Malik, Ayesha Omar was asked if she and Shoaib are getting married.
However, Ayesha dismissed the talk.
She said:
“Not at all. He is married and is very happy with his wife. I respect both Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza a lot.”
“Shoaib and I are good friends and each other’s well-wishers. People have such relations in this world too.”
Ayesha Omar made her film debut in the lead role in Karachi Se Lahore in 2015, followed by supporting characters in the war film Yalghaar (2017) and the drama Kaaf Kangana (2019).
