Atif Aslam and Kaifi Khalil’s ‘Kahani Suno 2.0’ are among Pakistan’s most-streamed on Spotify in 2023.
Towards the end of every year, Spotify releases ‘Wrapped’, a list of the most streamed and listened-to artists.
Each user receives a breakdown of their most listened-to songs compiled into a list usually revealing how many times certain songs were listened to and on which dates.
As 2023 comes to an end, it has been revealed that Spotify in Pakistan has been heavily dominated by Atif Aslam and Kaifi Khalil.
Atif keeps his spot as the top Pakistani artist on Spotify.
Added to the list are names such as Asim Azhar, Talha Anjum, Abdul Hannan and Rovalio.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan also remain in the top 10 most streamed local artists.
Kaifi Khalil rose to fame for his soulful song ‘Kahani Suno 2.0’ in 2023, becoming one of the most-streamed Pakistani songs globally.
Ali Sethi and Shae Gill’s ‘Pasoori’ has also proved popular in the charts and continues to rise in the top five most streamed local tracks of the year.
‘Iraaday’, ‘Bikhra’ and ‘Siyah’ by Abdul Hannan also remain in the top five.
The year 2023 has surely been an amazing year for Pakistani artists, giving recognition to singers such as Hassan and Roshaan for ‘Sukoon’, Asim Azhar for ‘Jo Tu Na Mila’, and AUR for ‘Tu Hai Kahan’.
When looking at the most streamed female artist in Pakistan, Shae Gill holds her position.
She is followed by Momina Mustehsan, Abida Parveen, Quratulain Baloch, Aima Baig, Nazia Hassan and Naseebo Lal.
The most popular albums on the Wrapped list in Pakistan consist of titles such as Open Letter by Talha Anjum, becoming the second most-streamed album, Day 5 by Hassan and Roshaan, and Main Tera by Azaan Sami Khan.
Keeping it local, it has emerged that the most popular local playlists are Hot Hits Pakistan, Pakka Hit Hai, Desi Hits, Shaadi Hits and International Hits.
Spotify Wrapped was launched in 2016 and has since become an annual tradition in which app users and artists get an insight into their music history of the year and artists can see how many times they were searched.
In 2018, Spotify Wrapped faced accusations that the annual list was a means of gaining free advertisement.
In 2020, Spotify Wrapped won several awards including the People’s Voice Awards for Music, Best Data Visualisation and Best User Experience.
