"Another case? I've had enough of this woman."
Apu Biswas is embroiled in a legal dispute following a lawsuit filed by producer Simi Islam Koli after the latter accused her of illegally occupying her YouTube channel.
In addition to Apu, content creators Hero Alam and Zahidul Islam Apon are also named as defendants.
According to Simi’s complaint, her YouTube channel was hacked and unlawfully taken over by Apu Biswas and Zahidul Islam Apon.
With the assistance of the Producers’ Association, Simi decided to pursue legal action.
Simi alleged that despite Apu’s assurances that the channel would be returned, no progress was made. Frustrated, she filed a case at Lalbagh Police Station on January 28, 2024.
Hero Alam then stepped in, offering to mediate between the parties.
However, Simi claims that Apu demanded a payment of Tk 10 lakh for the return of the channel.
After negotiations, Simi agreed to pay Tk 5 lakh through Hero Alam, believing this would resolve the matter.
Although the channel was restored, Simi discovered that many older videos had been deleted.
Expressing her discontent, Simi stated: “I repeatedly contacted Apu about the channel, but she ignored my requests.
“Even producer Khorshed Alam Khusru spoke to Apu on my behalf, but Apu did not respond.
“After I paid the money and got the channel back, the videos were removed.
“When I brought this up to Hero Alam, he said he would look into it, but I haven’t heard from him since.”
In light of the situation, Apu Biswas addressed the allegations, expressing her frustration with Simi.
She said: “Another case? I’ve had enough of this woman. She has been given everything she asked for. What’s the need for a case now?
“I’m not even aware of it—it’s all too much.”
Apu clarified that her YouTube channel is managed by an external organisation, distancing herself from direct responsibility.
She said: “If Simi sees herself as part of the film industry, it’s disappointing that she’s prioritising trivial issues at a time when our cinema is facing significant challenges.”
Apu Biswas emphasised that while the channel operates under her name, the actual management lies with another company, saying:
“I don’t personally handle the YouTube channel; my admin manages it.”
Responding to the financial claims, Apu questioned Hero Alam’s involvement:
“Where does Hero Alam fit into this? Simi would know better. I barely know him.
“I trust the government and the legal system. I have no clue about her monetary transactions or reasons behind them.”
As the legal proceedings unfold, the court has directed the Tejgaon Police Station to investigate and submit a report by December 11, 2024.
