"The age difference has always existed."

Ananya Panday has spoken about her 14-year age gap with her Dream Girl 2 co-star Ayushmann Khurrana.

The trailer launch took place on August 1, 2023, and it showed Ayushmann taking his Pooja character to another level.

This time, he is not only voicing Pooja but is also dressed up as her.

Once again, ‘Pooja’ is seen fooling a lot of men.

Ananya Panday is also seen in the trailer, playing Karamveer’s (Ayushmann) love interest.

At the trailer launch, Ananya was asked about the 14-year age gap between her and her co-star.

Stating that it should not matter, the 24-year-old said:

“I don’t think this is today’s issue.

“The age difference has always existed. People should not fixate on age while watching the film.

“If they are preoccupied with this factor, then it becomes a problem.

“As long as two actors are suitable for their respective roles, it’s perfectly acceptable.”

Dream Girl 2 was originally set to release in July 2023 but it was pushed back to August 25.

The filmmakers stated that the delay was due to the extensive VFX work required for the film.

Producer Ekta Kapoor said: “We want Ayushmann Khurrana’s character to look perfect as Pooja in Dream Girl 2, and that’s why we are taking extra time to perfect the VFX work for the face.

“We want to ensure that our viewers get the best possible experience when they watch the movie.

“The VFX work for Dream Girl 2 is an integral part of the movie, and we want to ensure that we deliver a high-quality product to our audiences.”

Meanwhile, Ayushmann said he took inspiration from Kamal Haasan and Govinda for his role.

He explained:

“You take inspiration from Kamal Haasan sir in Chachi 420 or Govinda in Aunty No 1.”

“A lot of actors have done this, including Kishore Kumar ji. So, actors have got an opportunity every decade to play characters like these.

“I’m glad I got it too with this film, which says a lot in a light-hearted, fun way.”

Dream Girl 2 is the spiritual successor to the 2019 film which saw Ayushmann as a call centre worker who speaks to callers in a woman’s voice, pretending to be Pooja.

It starred Nushrratt Bharuccha, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz and Abhishek Banerjee. The film was a blockbuster with a gross worldwide box office collection of Rs. 200 Crore.
