Amir Khan has announced that his mother has sadly been diagnosed with cancer.

The boxer took to social media to reveal the tragic news. He said that his mother Falak has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer is a cancer that originates in the pancreas, near the stomach and can be treated with chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy.

The former world champion asked fans to keep her in their prayers.

Amir wrote: “My dear mum has been diagnosed with pancreas cancer. Stage 4.

“Today she’s feeling a lot better and stronger. Please keep her in your prayers.”

The boxer’s social media followers offered messages of support.

Citizen Khan star Adil Ray wrote: “Wishing you and your Mum the best. Lots of love.”

One person said: “Consider your Mother in my prayers. A is for Allah nothing but Allah. God is for everyone.

“I think highly of you. Nurse her wounds lots of cranberry juice and lots of turmeric in the cuisine. Humans don’t live forever, our spirit is immortal. Bless da Khan family.”

Amir Khan and his parents had been embroiled in a feud, however, it ended in May 2020 when the boxer, his wife Faryal Makhdoom and their three children visited their home in Bolton.

The reunion was an emotional one because it was the first time Shah and Falak had met their grandson, Muhammad Zaviyar.

The get-together was the first time since December 2018 that Mr and Mrs Khan had seen their son and Faryal and their two other grandchildren, Lamaisah and Alayna.

A source to the Daily Mail said: “It was a very emotional reunion because both Shah and Falak have really missed not seeing Amir and his family.

“They were also devastated that they had not seen their grandson and there were a lot of tears and joy when they laid eyes on him for the first time.

“There’s been a lot of harsh words exchanged between the two sides over the past few months, but this current coronavirus situation has made them see what’s really important. And that is your family.”
