"misleading content is being produced at great speed"
Akshay Kumar has criticised the misuse of artificial intelligence after a manipulated video featuring him as Maharishi Valmiki went viral.
The fake trailer falsely claimed that the film would feature Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Paresh Rawal.
Clips from the video quickly gained traction across social media, where many viewers mistakenly believed the project was genuine.
The speed at which the video spread underlined the risks posed by artificial intelligence tools in creating convincing but misleading content.
On September 23, 2025, Akshay Kumar directly addressed the issue on X.
He wrote: “I have recently come across some AI-generated videos of a film trailer showing me in the role of Maharishi Valmiki.
“I want to clarify that all such videos are fake and created using AI.”
The Bollywood star also hit out at certain sections of the media for circulating the fake video without first establishing its legitimacy.
He continued: “What’s worse, some news channels decide to pick these up as ‘news’ without even verifying if these are real or morphed.”
Akshay used the opportunity to highlight the dangers of unchecked misinformation in the era of artificial intelligence, adding:
“In today’s time, when misleading content is being produced at great speed through manipulative AI, I sincerely request media houses to verify and report only after authenticating the information.”
