“It is not right to use this kind of word"
Akshay Kumar has finally spoken about Paresh Rawal’s departure from the much-anticipated Hera Pheri 3.
The actor addressed the controversy during the trailer launch of his upcoming film Housefull 5.
At the launch, he called for respect and restraint while speaking about his longtime co-star.
The conversation came after Paresh’s sudden announcement that he would not be returning to the beloved comedy franchise, citing that it is “not something he wants to do now”.
Since then, speculation has been rife about the reasons behind his exit.
Some people went as far as calling Paresh “foolish” for stepping away from the iconic role of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte.
Akshay responded firmly to this tone of commentary.
He said: “It is not right to use this kind of word for one of my co-stars like ‘foolish’ or something, I would not appreciate it.
“I have worked with him for the last 30–32 years. We are very good friends. He is a great actor. I really admire him.”
Akshay further explained that he wouldn’t delve into the legal aspects surrounding the situation at a public event.
He added: “I don’t think this is the place where I’m going to talk about it. Whatever has to happen is a very serious matter.
“It is a matter which is going to be handled by the court.”
Paresh has remained mostly silent since his withdrawal from Hera Pheri 3.
However, reports indicate that Akshay Kumar’s production company, Cape of Good Films, has filed a legal case against the veteran actor for breach of trust.
Paresh Rawal has not publicly responded to the legal notice or the growing fan backlash.
The two actors have shared the screen in several successful projects over the decades, with Hera Pheri being one of the most iconic.
Their onscreen collaboration contributed to the enduring popularity of the franchise.
Paresh Rawal’s decision to walk away from the third instalment has undoubtedly left a void.
Akshay Kumar, who continues to lead multiple big-budget projects, is set to appear next in Housefull 5, which will release on June 6, 2025.
The film features a star-studded cast including Jacqueline Fernandez, Sanjay Dutt, and Kriti Sanon.
Fans are looking forward to another chapter in one of Bollywood’s most successful comedies.
