"Celebrate the love and friendship."
Bollywood fans can look forward to a treat as Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani (2009) is set to re-release on the big screen.
The classic romantic comedy was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and starred Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.
In their first collaboration, Ranbir played Prem Shankar Sharma, a school dropout who is the President of his Happy Club.
The goal of the Happy Club is to reunite separated lovers. While on such a mission, Prem comes across Jennifer ‘Jenny’ Pinto (Katrina).
Prem instantly falls in love with Jenny but cannot tell her even when they become good friends.
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani narrated the story of Jenny and Prem, which was a massive hit when it was initially released.
The film was one of Ranbir’s early movies and firmly proved his talent and onscreen charm.
Announcing the rerelease of the film, the Tips Instagram account posted a poster of the movie.
They wrote: “Celebrate the love and friendship as Prem and Jenny return to cinemas!”
The news generated excitement among fans.
One user said: “People are missing those vibes.”
Another person commented: “Can’t wait to watch on the big screen. Enjoying the nostalgia. Thanks, Tips.”
A third user wrote: “Yay! Favourite movie since childhood.”
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani also featured a cameo appearance by Salman Khan, who played himself.
In a recent interview, the film’s producer, Ramesh Taurani, divulged the experience of working with Ranbir on the film.
He said: “There was never any tension on set.
“Ranbir is the kind of actor who if you work with once, you’ll feel like collaborating with on every film. He’s so good.
“He’s still the same and that’s a very good quality that he has.
“No matter what is asked of him, he obliges with a simple ‘okay’.
“You will never see a wrinkle on his face. He never cribbed or whined about it.
“He never demanded us to let him leave early. He was accommodating throughout the shoot.”
The making of the film still had its share of controversy. Around the time of production, Ranbir was in a relationship with Deepika Padukone.
However, rumours of the actor getting close to Katrina Kaif on the sets emerged.
Ranbir and Deepika broke up shortly afterwards and Ranbir and Katrina began dating.
After this film, the pair starred together in Rajneeti (2010) and Jagga Jasoos (2017). They broke up in 2016.
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani is scheduled to be re-released across India on October 25, 2024.
