"Believe me working in 'Pink Panther' was a joy"
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were at the world premiere of Aishwarya’s Hollywood movie, Pink Panther 2, starring the legendary Steve Martin. The pair attended the New York, USA, premiere of the film, joined by Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan.
Wearing a wonderful sleek long black dress, Aishwarya was radiant on the red carpet. She certainly enjoyed the attention and experience of being part of a Hollywood film for a change.
When asked about her small role in the film, Aishwarya replied, “The choices I’ve made in my career aren’t just about footage but an opportunity to work with actors, directors and technicians who enrich my life. Believe me working in ‘Pink Panther’ was a joy.” She also said of the film, “Of course, ‘Pink Panther’ is a Steve Martin vehicle. Is that something to question? All the rest of the wonderful cast including Jean Reno and Andy Garcia play supporting roles. I treasure the experience of working in ‘Pink Panther 2’.”
There have been rumours that Aishwarya was neglected from promotions of the film when initial posters and promos were made. However, to ensure her global appeal was included, this was then addressed when the promotions company made new promos and even posters to accommodate the Bollywood star. Thus, highlighting the global acknowledgement of the actress. As part of the promotion campaign, Aishwarya will be attending world-wide premieres for the film, including visits to other states in the USA, Madrid, Moscow, Paris and at the Berlin Film Festival, as the last stop in Germany.
However, early reviews of the Pink Panther sequel have not been favourable with critic, Alonso Duralde, from MSNBC, calling the film “a total waste of time.” He added, “And if for no other reason than to guarantee a boffo opening weekend in India, lovely Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan comes along for the ride playing an expert on The Tornado, even though the film gives her nothing funny to say or interesting to do.”
With regards to other Hollywood projects for the Bollywood belle, there has been much talk about Aishwarya working with Will Smith, further to being offered the lead opposite him in Seven Pounds. When asked if she would work with the huge Hollywood actor, she laughed and said, “Will Smith and I will work together for sure.” And added, “There have been a number of offers. Dates just don’t work out. If he’s keen to work with me, so am I.”
