"During that period, I even had suicidal thoughts."
Aima Baig recently featured on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Excuse Me, where she discussed her breakup with Shahbaz Shigri.
The pair had been engaged but in 2022, they parted ways.
During the podcast, she said: “There were various undisclosed issues between us that people aren’t aware of, and I prefer not to delve into the specifics.
“Despite having supportive families who understood us well, the challenges lied within our relationship.
“Ultimately, it was a mutual decision, though I played a significant role in making it.
“I believed that it wasn’t the right time for us to proceed, but in hindsight, I realise that the decision took an unexpected turn.”
Explaining that although the split was mutual, Aima received criticism from fans.
She said: “One thing that still bothers me is that even though the breakup was mutual, only one person, one gender, was blamed for it, and I haven’t been able to forget that.”
The pair remain on good terms but Aima has not forgotten the online bullying she was subjected to.
“I went through a tough time, but my family was there for me.
“My siblings tried to hide me from social media trolling, although I was aware of it because I had a phone.
“During that period, I even had suicidal thoughts.”
She confessed about how she made a mistake by “sharing too much”, saying:
“Everything became too public. People cared too much.
“It wasn’t that big of a deal; there were many other important things happening in the world, but that specific issue became crucial for everyone.”
Despite her revelation, viewers brought up the claims that her cheating was the reason for the breakup.
One person commented: “She is just upset that Taloulah exposed her for who she is.”
Another said:
“So she thought it was okay to cheat until Taloulah exposed her reality.”
One wrote: “She is playing the victim again.”
Another asked: “If she was so sensitive, why did she even share it on social media in the first place?”
One queried: “What’s the point of sharing this all now when it’s over? I think she likes the attention.”
