"It was a very tragic and devastating thing"

Pakistani actress Zoya Nasir appeared on Adnan Faisal’s podcast where she spoke about the fake death rumours that circulated online.

During the podcast, Zoya spoke about her career, past relationships, marriage and rumours.

She asked Adnan if he knew about the rumour that she had died, to which he replied he knew of the rumours before asking Zoya to elaborate on the matter.

Zoya said: “So basically my Bhabhi [sister-in-law] passed away. It was a very tragic and devastating thing for all of us because it was a sudden death.

“And then what happened was that someone said Nasir Baig’s daughter-in-law passed away but news travelled that his daughter had passed away.

“My Bhabhi had just passed away so I did not check social media. I was in a very bad place because I was very close to her, I was born in front of her.”

The conversation turned to feminism and Adnan asked Zoya what her stance was on the topic.

Zoya Nasir replied: “You don’t have to hate men to be a feminist. You don’t have to be bitter towards men to be a feminist.”

As the podcast progressed, Zoya described herself as an ambitious individual who is a workaholic.

“I like to stay busy, I need a reason to get up in the morning. Acting is my passion.”

Adnan revealed to Zoya that when he announced she would be a guest on his podcast, he was requested to ask Zoya when she would be getting married.

Zoya said she did not know when she would get married but she would opt for an arranged marriage.

“I will meet the guy and see if our mindset matches first. I won’t be pressured into it this time. I am ready.”

On relationship red flags, Zoya Nasir explained:

“When nobody acknowledges your emotions and does not respect your interests.”

“Initially both parties try to impress one another, then they get comfortable and think they never used to behave like this etc. Just be yourself from the start.”

Zoya spoke about her regrets in life and admitted that she should have stood up for herself a long time ago, and agreed that she used to be a people pleaser.

“I used to live for my friends and relatives. I was not respecting myself.

“It upsets me and I wish I knew earlier if you don’t respect yourself then nobody will respect you.”
